18 Rare Tata Nano ELECTRIC Used Cars For Sale

Most do not know that there were actual Tata Nano electric cars - though they were not made by Tata themselves. Tata Motors sold the body shells to Jayem Automotives, who built the rest of the car. Instead of the two-cylinder Kinetic engine, Jayem added a battery pack and electric motor. Thus was born the Jayem Neo. These cars were originally built for Ola, but a few were bought by private buyers too, perhaps. And here are 18 such Jayem Neo electric hatchbacks (Nano EVs) for sale.
Do note that these cars are not electric conversions - they were actually built ground up as electric cars, apart from the body shell. Ratan Tata himself was occasionally seen in the Jayem Neo (Nano electric) car. We wrote about the car on CarToq previously.
The seller seen here has bought 18 such Tata Nano EVs from Ola, and he has also bought 10 additional Nano EVs for spare parts. He can be heard saying in the video that he transports the cars to Kerala, and after reaching his yard, he and his team work on the cars. They inspect the mechanical bits and check the motor and battery health.
And those who want to know what the Jayem Neo electric hatchbacks drive like, check this video out.
Once they are satisfied with the results, they put the car up for sale. The cars that he has bought are registered in Telangana. He will have to get the cars re-registered in Kerala and transfer them to the name of the person who is buying them.
The car looks great in terms of appearance and condition. He ensures that the exterior and interior of the car are clean before selling it to customers. He also adds that at the moment, there are over 130 Nano EVs in Kerala alone. There is not much service required on this car as it is an EV. Every 10,000 km, the brake pads need to be checked, and repairs are only required when an issue arises. You can watch the video here.

The cars are available for test drives in Thrissur, Kerala.
As the car is officially discontinued, spare parts could be an issue. While some of the parts can be bought from Tata Motors dealerships, you may need to take the help of the used car dealer himself to get others. He has a bunch of Nano EVs he has bought purely for spares. And there is a Whatsapp group for Nano EV owners, which too could be helpful in obtaining spare parts.
The Nano EVs never came with Tata’s logo. They were officially made by Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotive. This is the same wing that worked on the Tiago and Tigor JTPs. Jayem Automotive was supplied with the shell of the Nano from Tata’s factory. The rest of the things were done by Jayem.
They were manufacturing the Nano as an EV for Ola. Jayem delivered around 400 cars out of 1,000 but then the pandemic hit the nation, and the project was stopped. Jayem did manufacture several cars, but they were never delivered.
Some of these cars are now bought by used car sellers from different parts of the country, registered, and sold to customers. Anyone who is actually looking for a small city electric car without spending a lot can consider the Nano EV or Jayem Neo EV, as Jayem used to call it.
The car is powered by a 17 kWh battery pack, and the overall driving range of the Nano EV is around 140 km with the AC on. The electric motor generates around 23 bhp, and all the 18 units that he is currently selling have the same specs. This means the price of the car is also the same. The asking price for the Nano EV seen here in the video, including the ownership transfer, is ₹3.8 lakh. Interested buyers can get in touch by calling the dealer on the contact number above.
