Tata Motors is known for the build quality of their cars, and there have been several instances where their cars have proven the same. In many cases, the occupants in Tata cars have escaped unhurt, even from major accidents. Here, we have a video from Kerala where a Tata Nexon EV crashed into a Maruti 800 that was parked on the side of the road. Here’s how the electric SUV performed in the crash.

The video has been shared by DJ Prem on his Instagram. The accident happened somewhere in Kerala, though the exact location is not mentioned in the video. We see a Tata Nexon EV crashed into the back of a Maruti 800 hatchback. It looks like a high-speed crash. The video mentions that the car was parked on the roadside when the Nexon EV rear-ended it.

After crashing, the Nexon EV pushed the hatchback forward for at least 150 meters before coming to a stop. The Maruti 800 was completely damaged in the crash. The rear of the hatchback had caved in, and the roof of the car had also collapsed. The tailgate, tail lamps, bumper, rear windshield, fenders, and rear doors were all damaged in the accident.

The occupants of the Maruti 800 had actually parked the car on the roadside and had gotten out to get refreshments when this happened. If the passengers had been present in the car at the time of the crash, they would have been seriously injured. The exact reason for the crash is not known.

It is not clear if the Nexon EV was speeding or if the driver lost control of the SUV and crashed into the hatchback. Coming to the Tata Nexon EV, this is the pre-facelift version, and the SUV managed to stay in shape. The SUV’s front absorbed the impact quite well. We see damages on the bonnet, front bumper, grille, and fenders, but other than that, there is no major damage.

The airbags of the Tata Nexon EV deployed, and we assume that the occupants in the car escaped the crash without any major injuries.

Nexon EV rear-ends Maruti 800

The comment section under this video was filled with people appreciating the build quality of Tata, as well as those saddened by the damage to a clean-looking Maruti 800. One user commented, “We lost a clean Maruti 800.” The owner of the Maruti 800 also commented under the video, stating that the car was a total loss and that he is currently looking for ways to bring the car back to life.

It is indeed a sad sight for anyone who has a soft spot for well-maintained old and retro cars. To avoid such situations, always drive carefully, stay within the speed limits, and be alert for any obstacles on the road that could potentially damage your vehicle.

The Tata Nexon was one of the first cars from India to score a clean 5-star rating at Global NCAP. The electric version of the SUV has never undergone the Global NCAP test, but both Tata and its customers were confident about its performance. When the current version of the Nexon was launched in the market, we had switched from Global NCAP to Bharat NCAP, and in BNCAP, the Tata Harrier, Safari, Nexon, and Nexon EV performed well. All these SUVs scored 5-star ratings in the crash tests.
