Just a few days ago, we told you that performance-oriented electric cars tend to wear out their tyres more quickly than ICE vehicles with similar performance. Now, on the flip side, there are some EV owners who have highlighted that their EV has managed to utilise the factory set of tyres for a long time. Recently, a Tata Nexon EV Prime owner revealed that despite driving his vehicle over 1,62,000 km since new, he has not changed his tyres even once.

Watch on YouTube

This video of a Tata Nexon EV Prime sharing details of his Nexon has been shared on YouTube by Kaushik Vlogs on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger introducing the Tata Nexon EV Prime and its owner. He then asks him about the current mileage of his vehicle. To this, he replies that he has covered over 1.62 lakh km on his EV.

How did the tyres last so long?

The answer is simple - careful, gentle acceleration and braking, and driving on good roads. Due to their high torque, its easy to get the tyres to spin and scrub off a lot of rubber quickly. If one is careful like this Nexon EV owner, you can make them last a long time still.

The host then asks the owner about his daily commute due to the amount of mileage on the odometer. He then replies that he has a marketing job for which he has to drive around 200 km per day from Delhi, Noida to Chandigarh and in the same region. After which, the vlogger started questioning about the range and charging time of the Nexon EV Prime.

To this, the owner replied that when driving at around 55–60 kmph, the range is around 250+ km in winter and rainy season. He added that during the peak summer season, the range drops due to heat. As for the charging, he highlighted that he has a charger installed in the basement parking of his building and the charging speed with the 3.3 kW home charger is 10 hours for a full charge.

Still on original tyres

Moving on, the host asked the owner about the service cost and other details of the Nexon EV Prime. The owner then replied that initially the service cost when the vehicle was in warranty was Rs 800 to Rs 1,200. The medium or 15,000 km service was around Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500, and the 30,000 km service was around Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000.

He added that his tyres are original from the factory. The owner stated that he does not accelerate excessively, and the road on which he travels is not very bad, so his tyres have lasted a long time. Overall, the owner highlighted that he is very happy with the electric vehicle experience, as it has taught him how to plan ahead and drive carefully.
