Tata Nexon is known for its safety and crashworthiness. We have seen many incidents in which the SUV was involved in horrific crashes, but kept the occupants safe. In a recent example, a Nexon was involved in a dreadful accident in Hodal, Haryana. The car was totalled in the crash, but the occupants were safe! The owner of the crashed car, says on video, that his next car will be a Nexon as well.

A video shared on the Instagram handle Rahul Chaudhary shows the Nexon that was involved in the crash. It looks totalled. Going by the debris, this looks like a head-on collision. The front fascia has been completely damaged and deformed. This Nexon, the video says, is less than a year old...

The cabin, on the other hand, seems to be more in shape. Except for slight deformation in the A-pillar, not much structural damage can be seen in the video. The airbags were deployed on time and should have played a key role in keeping the occupants safe.

He says that his brother who was driving the Nexon at the time of the crash, is completely safe and that his next car would be a Nexon as well. He further advises all of his friends and well-wishers to buy Tata cars as they would keep them safe.

People love the Nexon for its sturdy build and crashworthiness. Even the pre-facelift Nexon had scored five stars in Global NCAP crash tests and was in fact, the first made-in-India car to do so.

The vehicle involved in this crash, however, is the outgoing model. It has also been crash-tested by Global NCAP. Just like the pre-facelift model, the new SUV scored a full 5-star rating. The new Nexon scored 32.22 for adult and 44.52 for child protection. The facelift was evaluated under the new regulations which are known to be more stringent than before.

Interestingly, the new Nexon has been crash-tested by India's own vehicle evaluation program Bharat NCAP as well. BNCAP again gave it a full five star rating. The vehicle scored 29.41 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 43.83 points out of 49 for child occupant protection.

These impressive crash test results pulled many customers towards the Nexon. Another strong point of the SUV is its diverse powertrain choices. The Nexon is available with petrol, diesel, CNG and all-electric powertrains.

The EV is further offered with two different battery packs, essentially meaning a standard range and long-range versions. It thus has a wide appeal and the same is reflected in the sales as well. As we speak, Tata Nexon is one of the best-selling sub-4 meter SUVs in its segment.

Safety Features On The New Nexon

In terms of safety equipment, the new Tata Nexon comes with Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Traction Control (TC), six airbags ( dual frontal airbags, side head curtain airbags and side head airbags), and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The SUV's platform makes generous use of high-strength steel in its construction, and this is a major reason for its crashworthiness as well.

At the time of writing this article, the Nexon has a starting price of Rs 8.00 Lakh, ex-showroom and the top-spec Dark edition has an ex-showroom price of 15.60 Lakh.
