This Is The SAFEST Car Tata Motors Has Ever Built

The build quality of vehicles is something that many car buyers have been considering lately before purchasing a new car. One of the first names that comes to mind when discussing build quality is Tata Motors. They offer one of the widest ranges of cars with excellent crash test safety ratings. While they have a variety of SUVs with 5-star ratings in crash tests, one vehicle has outperformed the others. Which SUV is that? Let’s find out.
Tata’s entry-level electric SUV, the Punch.EV, is actually the safest car in Tata Motors’ lineup. While most of their vehicles have scored 5-star ratings, the Punch.EV managed to exceed that margin, making it the top of the list. The Tata Punch.EV scored 31.46 points out of 32 in adult occupant safety, and similarly, in child occupant safety, the electric SUV scored 45 out of 49 points.
This is the highest score any Tata vehicle has achieved in a crash test to date. The Tata Punch.EV is the first electric vehicle from the Indian car manufacturer to be based on Tata’s Acti.ev platform, a dedicated platform for Tata’s electric vehicles. The Tata Punch.EV comes standard with six airbags, ABS, ESC, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers.
Tata offers the Punch.EV in five variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. The electric SUV also comes with two battery pack options. The Standard variant uses a 25 kWh battery pack, and the Long Range variant uses a 35 kWh battery pack.
The Standard version offers a driving range of 315 km, while the Long Range variant offers a 421 km driving range. All variants are offered with both battery pack options, except the base Smart and Smart+ variants. The price for the Tata Punch.EV starts at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 14.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
As mentioned earlier, the Punch.EV is the safest car in Tata’s lineup, but only by a small margin. If you’re wondering which vehicles take second and third place, we’ve got you covered.
The latest member of Tata’s family, the Curvv.EV, holds second place. The electric SUV was launched a few months ago and has been receiving positive feedback from buyers. In the Bharat NCAP crash test, the Curvv.EV secured 30.81 points out of 32 in adult occupant safety and 44.83 out of 49 in child occupant safety, earning a total 5-star rating.
The SUV is available in Creative, Accomplished, Accomplished+S, Empowered+, and Empowered+A variants. The electric SUV offers two battery pack options: a 45 kWh battery pack and a 55 kWh battery pack, the largest ever installed in a Tata EV. The smaller battery pack is available in the Creative, Accomplished, and Accomplished+S variants.
The larger battery pack is available in the Accomplished, Accomplished+S, Empowered+, and Empowered+A variants. The price for the Tata Curvv.EV starts at Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Harrier and Safari share the third spot, with 30.08 points out of 32 in adult safety ratings and 44.54 points out of 49 in child safety ratings. Both SUVs underwent crash tests following the launch of their facelift last year. They are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that generates 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is available with both manual and automatic transmission options.
The Tata Harrier is available in 25 variants, while the Safari is offered in 29 variants, including the Dark Edition. The price for the Tata Harrier starts at Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 25.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the Safari starts at Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 26.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
