The video of a Tata Safari that was involved in a crash due to faulty brakes is now doing rounds on the internet. The owner, from Patna, Bihar, was further mistreated by the dealer. Looks like the video has reached Tata officials, and the carmaker has come up with a response and has promised a quick fix. Further, the money incurred by the owner for the repairs and for tyres will be refunded as well. After getting all the work done, the car will be personally inspected by Tata Motors officials. The owner is happy about the way things took a turn.

The Incident:

The owner, who hails from Patna, Bihar, bought the Safari Dark Edition on the 15th of July this year. He soon took it for the Hindu ritual at a nearby temple, where he noticed the brakes to be unusually loose and faulty. Embarassed, he immediately contacted the sales representative.

The dealer guy, however, turned the concern down, by downplaying the issue. The owner was told that it was a minor glitch and would resolve by itself as and when the vehicle clocks kilometers- say after driving it for a couple of hundred kilometers. The Safari owner, though sad about his new car’s plight, had no option but to trust him. He continued to use the vehicle, with compromised braking.

Accident During Trip to Mussoorie

A few days later, The owner went on a road trip to Mussoorie with his father and brothers. On their journey, the group encountered a frightening situation. The Safari was cruising when a tractor unexpectedly showed up on the road and the owner attempted a panic braking. Even though there was ample stopping distance available, the SUV crashed into the tractor due to its compromised brakes.

The owner wa horrified by the incident. The front right-hand side of the vehicle had taken major damage. The right headlamp, fender and portion of the wheel were all severely damaged. The right tyre burst in the crash and all these happened due to an unattended brake failure! It makes sense for the owner to get frustrated! He made a claim on his insurance to fix his brand-new car! The dealership, however, refused to accept that the brake failure was a factory defect.

According to the owner, Tata Motors technicians confirmed that the brake failure was due to a manufacturing defect, specifically in the brake booster, which was only delivering 40 per cent efficiency, even when applied fully. Despite this, the dealership has denied that the brake issue was a factory defect.

Tata Motors Employee’s Misbehavior

Adding to his frustration, the owner says that the SUV has been in the repair shop for over 40 days, yet the dealership has been unable to get it fixed. When he confronted the staff, one of them reacted rudely, even telling him, “he should have died” in the accident. The owner was reportedly kicked out of the dealership, his vehicle was not returned.

Rising To Public Notice And Getting It Resolved

Agitated by all these, the owner decided to react and fight for justice. He got in touch with the guy who runs the YouTube channel ‘Prateek Sinh’ and explained his situation. The channel soon took it up and did a detailed video on the issue. It soon got massive attention and Tata Motors was quick to react. The creator took down the video after the owner asked him to do so after having valid assurances from the brand regarding his car.
