Imagine you pay your hard-earned money for your dream car, and days after buying it, it starts breaking down every other day. You’d feel frustrated, cheated, betrayed, and angry, right? The answer most likely will be an astounding yes. Well, recently, a Tata Safari facelift buyer went through the same emotions. So, in an attempt to get the attention of the brand, this particular Tata Safari owner from Surat, Gujarat, has publicly demanded a full refund from Tata Motors after his vehicle repeatedly failed on multiple occasions.

The video of the Tata Safari facelift being towed away on a trailer has been shared by the customer, Suresh Suthar, on their page. Along with the video, he has shared his poor experience through an open letter posted on his Instagram profile. In his post, the owner has highlighted his frustration and disappointment with the vehicle and has described it as “error-based” and “default.”

Purchase and Initial Problems

According to the customer, Suresh Suthar, he purchased the top model of the new-generation Tata Safari with the registration number GJ 05 RW 5643 on October 11, 2023. He stated that he bought it from Pramukh Tata in Surat, Gujarat. He then transitioned into the problems and highlighted that he encountered a series of issues with the car.

Suthar stated that his problems began with the digital screen display, which would occasionally turn off while the car was being driven. Next, he mentioned that it was then followed by system failure alerts. He added that this problem left him with constant anxiety every time he drove the vehicle.

Problems Continued

Next, the owner brought attention to one of the most alarming issues, which was the malfunction of the ignition system. On several occasions, the car’s ignition would turn off. He added that the power would suddenly cut out, but the music system would continue running. This issue always drained the car’s battery and left his vehicle unable to start after a short period, he highlighted.

Another serious issue revealed by the owner involved the fuel gauge. Suthar shared an incident where the digital screen displayed a range of 88 km. However, the fuel tank of his vehicle was empty. This misleading information caused the car to break down on the highway. This then left Suthar stranded.

Apart from the above-mentioned issues, he added that the hand brake system displayed incorrect status on the screen. He stated that at times, the display would show the hand brake is engaged when it was not, and sometimes it went the other way.

Last Breakdown in Rajasthan

Following all the issues, the owner highlighted that the situation reached a tipping point on July 9, 2024. He explained that he was in Jalore, Rajasthan, for business purposes. So, as he prepared to return to Surat, a new problem emerged. The vehicle’s system displayed an error message stating “KEY WAS NOT FOUND,” despite the key being inside the car.

Due to this issue, the car did not start, and Suthar was left stranded once again. This time, he had no choice but to have the vehicle towed to the nearest Tata Motors service center. He added that this center was in Jodhpur, 140 kilometers away. Following this, in his letter, he highlighted that due to this, his business plans were disrupted. It also caused him financial losses as well.

He has requested that all issues with the car be resolved immediately and demanded compensation for the losses he incurred due to the car’s repeated failures.

Additionally, Suthar has asked Tata Motors to bear the cost of transporting the car back to Surat. Also, he asked them to arrange for him and his family to be safely returned to Surat. He added that if Tata Motors fails to address his concerns, he requests that the company buy back the car and refund his hard-earned money.
