India’s Only Tata Sierra With Gullwing Doors Looks Unique [Video]
Tata launched the all-new Sierra in the Indian market recently. While everyone is busy talking about the all-new Sierra and how it is more practical than the original one, here we have a video where the owner converted the 2-door old Sierra into a 4-door version in a very unique way. The rear passengers get gullwing doors.
The video has been shared by Sakshamx00 on his YouTube channel as a short. In the video, we see the uniquely modified Tata Sierra. One of the major reasons why the Sierra was not a huge hit in terms of sales back when it was launched was because of its three-door design.
While everyone did appreciate the airy cabin and the large alpine windows, they were not very happy with the fact that it didn’t come with a dedicated door for the rear seats. The owner of this particular Sierra, we assume, would have also faced the same issue over the years, and maybe that is why he decided to find a way around this limitation.
This is just an assumption. It is also possible that the owner wanted to make his Sierra look different from others. He decided to cut the metal sheet in such a way that the whole section after the B-pillar got converted into a large door. As this is a large piece of metal, opening it or fixing hinges like a conventional door wouldn’t make sense. It would also take away the beauty of the alpine windows.
That is probably how they came to the conclusion that gullwing doors would look great on this car. That was the right decision, and we see the door slowly opening in the video too. It completely changes the look of the car, and we see how it opens up the large and spacious cabin of the Sierra.
The work done on this Sierra does look very clean, and it seems the owner completely customised the car to his liking. He got the SUV fully repainted in a dual-tone shade of red and black. This elevates the overall look of the Sierra. While we have seen many people opt for wider aftermarket alloys on the Sierra, the owner of this one decided to keep it stock.
The stock tail lamps have been removed, and we now see Chevrolet Tavera tail lamps at the back. The owner has probably had the interior of the car redone too. The reason why this Sierra caught our attention is the door. This is probably the only Sierra in the country to get gullwing doors. The only drawback with this design, from what we see, is that he has to be extremely careful while opening the doors as they require a lot of space.
The new Sierra is based on a completely new platform and it comes with a variety of engine and transmission options. It gets two petrol and one diesel engine option.
