The first engine and its buyer type discussed by Savarkar is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It is a 1,498cc, 4-cylinder motor which is capable of making 105 bhp and 145 Nm of torque. As for transmission options, it is being offered with a 6-speed manual as well as a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Now, for the people for whom this engine will be best suited, Savarkar highlights that true petrolheads who love the feel of a naturally aspirated engine will love this engine. He adds that those who will be using the Sierra every day and mostly in the city will find this engine the best.
The second engine option with which the Tata Sierra is offered is the 1.5-litre or 1,498cc, four-cylinder Turbo TGDi Hyperion petrol engine. This motor is the most powerful of the three options, and it is capable of making 158 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. As for the gearbox option, Tata Motors is offering this engine with only a single transmission option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Savarkar, in the video, mentions that this particular engine is for those people who love driving high-performance cars. He adds that this engine offers a lot of power, which makes the Sierra very quick, and it can reach 0–100 kmph very fast. Also, this engine has the highest specific torque, and even with a light tap on the accelerator, the power can be felt by the driver.
The third and last engine option available with the new Tata Sierra is the 1.5-litre, 1,497cc turbo diesel engine. This motor is capable of producing 118 bhp of power and offers 260 Nm of torque with the 6-speed manual gearbox and 280 Nm with the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
At last, the Tata Motors Chief Product Officer talks about the buyer type for the 1.5-litre diesel engine. He mentions that this particular engine is best suited for the people who love driving long distances. Savarkar continues and states that those who are looking to drive thousands of km a month will enjoy this engine, as it has a lot of torque and can be driven up and down on hills and any other place where the owner of this SUV would like to take it.
The Tata Sierra starts at Rs 11.49 lakh, and currently, the pricing of the top-of-the-line Accomplished variants has not been revealed by the company. The bookings will commence from December 16 and the January 15th.
