Tata Sierra has been the talk of the internet for the last couple of weeks. We have already seen several videos and reels online that talk about the premium features on the Sierra. One such feature is the electrically opening and closing tailgate, which comes with an anti-pinch feature too. However, we have also seen videos on the internet where this feature seemed to fail. A Maruti Arena dealer has now created a hilarious reel where he compares the anti-pinch feature on the Victoris with the Sierra.

The video has been shared by Avanish Auto Maruti Suzuki. The video starts by showing a short clip from a reel where a vlogger puts a banana between the electric tailgate and the boot to see if the gate stops in time or not. However, the tailgate continues to close and completely squishes the banana.

The Maruti dealer then performs the same banana test in the Maruti Victoris, which also comes with an electric tailgate and anti-pinch feature. In this test, he keeps the banana in front of the closing gate, and as soon as the gate touches the banana, it stops and opens.

The video is actually trolling Tata, as the dealer is indirectly saying that the Sierra was unable to integrate this feature properly. Does this video prove anything? Not really. The calibration of the anti-pinch feature in every model is done differently by each manufacturer. In some models, these systems are extremely sensitive and stop almost immediately when they detect any obstruction.

This also depends on the density of the object that comes between the gate and the boot. In the case of the Sierra, the banana was easily crushed, but in another video on the internet, we see a vlogger doing the same test with bottles and even with his hand.

They are seen putting a plastic bottle between the window glass, and the moment they pull the glass up, we see the bottle getting squished to a point where it can no longer close. When the motor senses resistance, it stops and rolls back. The same is the case with the boot. If the vlogger had used something a bit more solid, the door might not have closed. Even in the video where the banana is kept, the door doesn’t fully close—it stops and retracts a bit, making enough space for you to pull the object out.

In the same bottle video, we see a person putting his hand in front of a closing window, and in this case, the system worked differently. It didn’t squeeze the hand much and almost immediately retracted. So, the troll video is actually not a troll video; it simply shows how the same system is calibrated differently in different models. This doesn’t make the feature 'unsafe' in the Tata Sierra.

However, we urge everyone not to recreate or imitate such stunts, as you might get your arm or fingers injured. This can be extremely dangerous if you are not careful. Never put your hand in front of a closing tailgate, especially if it is electrically controlled.
