Tech Mahindra Ex-CEO CP Gurnani Shows Off His New Mahindra XEV 9E Electric SUV [Video]

Mahindra received an overwhelming response from customers when they opened bookings for their EVs in February this year. In just under 24 hours, Mahindra received over 30,000 bookings with a total booking value of ₹8,472 crore (ex-showroom price). Many popular personalities and businessmen also booked the EV, and one such person was CP Gurnani, the former CEO and Managing Director of Tech Mahindra. He recently shared a video where he is seen in his new XEV 9E electric SUV at his office.
Mr. Gurnani had booked the top-end XEV 9E SUV in the Nebula Blue shade. He posted the image with the caption: "Booked my Nebula Blue #XEV9E -- can't wait for it to arrive! I'm an all-out believer in EVs, hydrogen fuel cells, and more tech in cars. The seamless transition to and from your home or office gives you the power and connectivity to do more! And oh, there will be two in the family—my daughter is getting one in Deep Forest. Looking forward to more of my regular drives to Mussoorie, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan."
The video has been shared by CP Gurnani on his X profile. He had previously posted on his X profile when he made the booking. He placed the booking on February 14, when Mahindra officially opened the bookings.
This post clearly mentions that he is going to have two XEV 9Es in his family. After taking delivery of the EV, he wrote: "Aaaaand it's here!!! First ride to the office in my brand-new Mahindra #XEV9E Nebula Blue. My first-hand association with EVs begins… Looking forward to munching many miles with this one!"
Mr. Gurnani retired from Tech Mahindra in December 2023 and later joined UpGrad as an independent non-executive director on the Board of Directors. After buying the XEV 9E, he probably visited the office in the EV, and the video was recorded there. We see the EV parked at the porch of the building, and the staff checking out the vehicle too. In this short video, it is clear who all are present inside the car.
The XEV 9E is a large SUV with a coupe-like design. It features a futuristic yet imposing front design, with drop-down LED DRLs, a connected LED light bar, an illuminated Mahindra logo, LED tail lamps, and more. It has been launched at a starting price of ₹21.9 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra offers three large 12.30-inch screens on the dashboard, which it calls the “Cinemascope Cockpit.” It also comes with optional rear-seat entertainment screens. Other features include a VisionX Augmented Reality HUD, MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture), seven airbags, Level 2+ ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and many more.
It uses the same 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs as the BE6 which is a smaller SUV. The 59 kWh version generates 228 BHP and 380 Nm of peak torque, while the 79 kWh version generates 282 BHP and 380 Nm of peak torque. Both these SUVs are currently offered in RWD configurations, with a dual-motor AWD setup likely to be introduced at a later stage. The price for the Mahindra XEV 9E goes up to ₹30.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
