Amazon Techie Explains Why He Chose MG ZS Over Mahindra And Tata EVs

A number of people, when it comes to buying electric cars in India at the moment, are opting for EVs from Mahindra and Tata. Also, the MG Windsor EV is a very popular choice. However, recently a techie has shared the reasons why he has bought himself a brand-new MG ZS EV in 2025. Presently, there are not a lot of buyers of this particular EV in India; however, this explanation from the owner might also convince you to check it out.
The video of the delivery of the MG ZS EV has been shared on YouTube by Prakash Suraj on their channel. In this short video, the owner mentions that he is going to take delivery of his brand-new MG ZS EV and then mentions that in the second he will explain the reasons behind his choice. Following this, he takes delivery of this SUV with his family present along with him.
In a different video, the owner takes his MG ZS EV to a new location and explains the reasons behind his choice of buying this SUV over Tata and Mahindra EVs. He starts off by stating the main reason why he bought an electric car. The techie highlights that he used to ride his Aprilia RS457 to office every day. However, he then developed neck and back pain due to it.
So he started taking his Hyundai i20 via the outer ring road, where his total daily commute became 140 km. He continued and stated that he had to spend Rs 1,000 on fuel every day for this commute. So, to save on fuel costs, he chose to buy himself an electric vehicle. He then added that his main concern was his budget, which was sub-20 lakh.
For this reason, he mentions that he could not opt for the Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9E, Tata Harrier.ev, and the Hyundai Creta Electric. As for the Tata Nexon.ev, it felt very small, and for Rs 19 lakh it was not worth the price. He added that the Curvv.ev was rejected by him because he does not like the coupe roofline, and it is essentially a Nexon.ev with an extended boot.
Lastly, Windsor EV was rejected due to its looks and smaller battery pack. The owner added that he wanted a car with a bigger battery pack which could offer him a range of around 300+ km on a single full charge.
The owner then explains the main reason why he bought the ZS EV from MG. He mentions that initially, when this SUV was launched in India, it was priced at Rs 27 lakh. However, as the MG S5 is about to be launched in India, the company is offering a massive discount on the ZS EV, and its ex-showroom price is now Rs 17.80 lakh.
As for the on-road price, he mentions that as Hyderabad does not charge road tax for EVs, he paid Rs 18.70 lakh for the ZS EV. Following this, he added that for the price, the same as the Tata Nexon.ev, he has managed to buy a car which sits at a segment above it. The owner also mentions that the ZS EV is one of the most powerful in its segment and makes 175 bhp and 270 Nm of torque and offers a range of around 320–370 km with its 50 kWh battery pack.
