Billionaire Thyrocare Founder Takes Ola Cab Instead Of A Luxury Car: Shocks People

Generally, when we think of billionaires, we assume that they love to live in the lap of luxury. We also make assumptions that they must be driven around in ultra-expensive luxury cars and live in multi-crore villas. Now, a lot of times, this is true; however, there are some ultra-high-net-worth individuals who love living a very low-key life. Of these, one is Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani, the founder of Thyrocare Technologies. Recently, he shared a tweet in which he highlighted that, instead of taking a luxury car home, he took an Ola cab instead.
This post, talking about how he took an Ola cab instead of a luxury car, was shared on X by Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani. In this short post, he highlighted that recently he went out to attend a dinner event at Portico, a five-star hotel. He then mentioned that his departure time from the hotel was around 10:30 PM, and he came out of the hotel to head home.
Following this, he highlighted that instead of using his luxury car, he called an Ola cab for himself. In the same post, Dr. Velumani stated that he had an interesting observation. He added that, while he was waiting outside the hotel for a cab, a number of people queued up and insisted on taking selfies with him.
At the same time, he saw that there were numerous high-end luxury cars that were patiently waiting behind the Ola cab. Finally, Dr. Velumani added that when he sat in this particular Ola cab, all the people around him were shocked, following which he gave a very important lesson to his followers online.
Dr. Velumani stated, “When you are tall. Be cool. Be frugal. Be humble. Rich and famous are also respect. EMI gets high-end cars and an artificial high. But OLA gets you peace for sure.” With this, he concluded his post, leaving his followers on the platform with a post to polarise.
A lot of people had interesting opinions on this post shared by Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani. Many agreed with the billionaire; however, there were a number of people who also questioned him and disagreed with him. One of the users on the platform put forward an interesting question.
He stated, “Sir, you said… when you are tall… this is good, and it will be a very good gesture.
But what if you are short? To sustain in this competitive and showbiz atmosphere, we are forced to hire luxury cars. Any advice?” To this, Dr. Velumani simply replied, “Ignore me. Enjoy your life in your wish.”
Meanwhile, another user stated, “But walking for a few kilometres would’ve given you more peace… Isn’t it? And if you are becoming frugal, be fully frugal. And having dinner at a 5-star is not frugal… Yes, after having 2 pegs, hiring Ola is a wise thing.”
Well, it all boils down to personal preference. If someone sees an Ola cab as a more convenient option, then there is no harm in that. However, it would be completely untrue to say that those who own cars are wasting money.
Cars, as much as people may call them a mode of transport for going from point A to point B, are more than that for a lot of enthusiasts. They become a reason for happiness for a lot of people. However, as mentioned, everything today is subjective, and whether buying a luxury car is seen as a useless expenditure or an investment in one’s dream is up to them.
