Cricketer Tilak Varma Adds BMW iX Electric SUV To His Garage [Video]

When it comes to the cars of the Indian cricket team players, they drive around in ultra-luxury and expensive sedans and SUVs. Recently, the rising star Tilak Varma, who is the left-handed batsman and part-time off-spin bowler, has also added a new vehicle to his garage. The cricketer was recently seen driving around in a BMW iX electric SUV.
The video showing Tilak Varma in his new BMW iX electric has been shared on Instagram by Ak Photography on their page. In this short clip, we can note that Varma opens the driver-side door of the BMW iX and sits inside. He then starts driving it on the road. It can be noted that this particular SUV has a VIP registration number of “0007”.
From what we can note, the cricketer was seen with this SUV in front of the Big Boy Toyz dealership in Hyderabad. This suggests that he might have bought it from there. For those who may not be aware, Big Boy Toyz is one of the largest and most popular used luxury car dealers in India.
The BMW iX is the flagship electric SUV from the brand, and its price starts at Rs 1.21 crore and goes up to Rs 1.39 crore. As for the used market, it trades hands anywhere in the range of Rs 78–90 lakh depending upon the condition and mileage. Generally, most of the BMW iX that are available in the market have very low mileage on their odometer. So it makes a lot of sense to buy it from the used car market.
BMW offers the iX in two variants: xDrive40 and xDrive50. The former variant gets two permanent magnet synchronous motors. One motor is placed on each front and rear axle. In total, these motors are capable of producing 322 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. As for the battery pack, it comes equipped with a 76.6 kWh unit, which offers a claimed range of 425 km on a single full charge.
On the other hand, the more expensive xDrive50 variant also gets the same dual-motor setup. But it makes 516 bhp and 765 Nm of torque. This variant also gets a bigger 111.5 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 635 km on a single full charge.
In terms of features, the iX electric SUV comes loaded with a lot of tech inside. The main highlight of its cabin includes a massive curved display housing a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment display. It also gets a hexagonal steering wheel, electrochromic panoramic glass roof, and multi-function seats with memory and massage function.
Tilak Varma is not the only celebrity in India who buys used cars. There are a lot of celebrities including Shilpa Shetty, Boman Irani, Tripti Dimri, and many others who have bought themselves used luxury cars. Well, the main reason behind them buying used luxury cars is the depreciation. Most luxury cars depreciate a lot in the first few years.
However, despite their loss in value, they are still perfectly good cars with low mileage and proper maintenance records. So it makes a lot of financial sense to buy used luxury cars with good service history. These celebrities often save tens of lakhs when they buy used luxury cars. Most likely, Tilak Varma as well has done the same.
