This Is How Much You'll Spend To Buy And Own A Toyota Fortuner For 5 Years

The Toyota Fortuner is THE MOST popular full-size premium ladder-on-frame chassis SUV in India. No other rival comes close to it, and owing to the hype created by influencers and social media users, it does not seem like any other rival will be taking its throne. Today, a lot of people already own and a lot more want to buy the Toyota Fortuner. However, have you ever wondered what is the true cost breakdown of buying, owning, and running this SUV? Well, if you have, then here's the answer.
This complete cost breakdown of a Toyota Fortuner and its ownership over 5 years has been shared on YouTube by Ankur Warikoo. For those who may not be aware, Ankur Warikoo is one of the most popular finance influencers in India. He regularly shares similar cost breakdowns of popular cars and other things to provide knowledge to people on what is financially sound or not.
In this recent video, Warikoo highlights the true cost of ownership and daily running cost of the Toyota Fortuner. He starts by listing the first expense, which is a full-time driver’s salary at Rs 25,000. He then adds the cost of diesel, which comes to about Rs 15,000, considering the daily travel is 50 km. Now, this cost will depend on the usage of the vehicle.
After this, he adds that the insurance EMI cost of the Fortuner will be Rs 8,000 per month. As for the maintenance, parking, and cleaning, it will be Rs 6,000, Rs 5,000, and Rs 5,000 respectively. Lastly, the miscellaneous cost of toll and other things comes out to Rs 6,000, which brings the total monthly running cost of the Fortuner to Rs 68,000.
Now, once we multiply the monthly cost of running a Toyota Fortuner by 12 months, the figure that we get is Rs 8.16 lakh. Now, considering the Fortuner is owned for five years and we also include the purchase cost of this SUV at Rs 55 lakh, the final cost of owning a Toyota Fortuner in India comes to Rs 96 lakh. The total running and maintenance cost for five years comes to around Rs 41 lakh.
The simple answer is no; the above calculations of all costs are just approximations done a lot of times to give an idea to the viewers. In reality, there are a lot of factors which can affect the final cost of ownership and running cost of any vehicle. In the case of the Fortuner, the cost can be drastically reduced if one does not hire a full-time driver.
Also, on the contrary, the fuel cost can shoot up quickly if the vehicle is driven daily for more than 50 km. Another major point to note is that if anyone buys the petrol variant of the Fortuner, the cost of fuel can again go up drastically as the petrol Fortuner offers a low mileage. Lastly, the cost of parking and other miscellaneous things depends upon the city in which the owner resides.
Now, there are a lot of Toyota Fortuner owners in India who do not actively calculate such costs. However, for those who are planning to buy one and want to know what will be the ballpark of their monthly expenditure with the Toyota Fortuner, the above calculations will give them an idea and help them in making their purchase decision.
