Accidents on Indian roads are a common thing, and in most cases, such incidents happen due to the carelessness of one or more people on the road. With the rise in the number of vehicles on our roads, the number of accidents has also gone up, and that is why many people are now looking for safe or sturdily built cars. We have seen several videos in the past where a car with sturdy build quality has saved the lives of the driver and occupants. Here we have a video where a Toyota Fortuner rear-ended a Land Rover Defender worth crores. Wondering what the results were? Here is a video that shows exactly that.

The video has been shared by Gourav Pandit on his Instagram profile. The exact location is not known but it looks like the accident happened somewhere in Gujarat. In this short social media clip, we can see a Defender behind a truck on the rightmost lane of the road.

It looks like the truck driver applied the brakes suddenly, and the cars behind the truck had to come to a sudden stop. The front of the Defender that is right behind the truck looks undamaged, which could mean that the driver managed to stop before crashing into the truck.

However, the Toyota Fortuner that was behind the Land Rover Defender was probably not lucky enough. The driver probably didn’t get enough time or gap to stop the SUV. The Fortuner crashed into the Defender. The bonnet of the Fortuner is damaged and it looks like the front grille and bumper might have also suffered minor damage.

The exact cause of this accident is not known and we are assuming the cause as detailed information is not available. The Fortuner rear-ended the Defender. The rear bumper and tail of the Defender look undamaged. The Fortuner, on the other hand, has damage at both the front and the rear. The front got damaged after the SUV rammed into the Defender. At the rear, a Maruti Swift that was behind the Fortuner crashed into it.

The rear bumper of the SUV also suffered minor damage. The comment section under this video talks about the build quality of the Defender, and many compare it with the damage on the Fortuner. What many don’t understand is that the results of this particular accident do not prove anything about build quality.

The Toyota Fortuner’s bonnet is part of the exterior skin, and most modern cars on sale will have a skin like this. This is done in order to make the vehicle compliant with current safety norms. The bonnet and bumper of the Fortuner absorbed the impact and the structure of the vehicle is still intact. The damage seen on the Toyota Fortuner here is not something that cannot be repaired.

The reason why we feel that the bonnet of the Fortuner probably got damaged is because it got caught under the spare wheel and cover mounted on the tailgate of the Land Rover Defender. The Swift that rammed into the Fortuner might have added more to the frontal damage.
