Toyota Fortuner Type 2 Gets Seamlessly Converted Into Latest GR Sport Version [Video]

The Toyota Fortuner is that ladder-on-frame SUV which you buy once and can run for decades with proper maintenance. Its bulletproof reliability has made it an extremely popular vehicle, and even today, people who bought this SUV back when it launched have kept them. Now, as time has progressed, the company has launched new models, and what people are doing is facelifting their old Fortuners. Recently, a video of a Type 2 Fortuner TRD Sportivo getting converted into a Legender/GR Sport version has been shared online.
This video of the Toyota Fortuner Type 2 conversion into the latest generation Legender with GR-Sport front accents has been shared on YouTube by Autorounders on their channel. It starts off with the owner of the shop introducing this old Type 2 Fortuner. He highlights that the owner of this particular SUV has sent it all the way from Gujarat to their shop in Andheri, Mumbai.
Following this, he then highlighted that the owner has opted for a facelift of this model into a Legender with a GR-Sport front. For this, he mentions that they will be changing a number of parts. The owner then lists all the parts that will be changed on the front. He states the front fenders, bonnet, front grille, and bumper will be changed along with aftermarket Legender-style quad-LED headlights.
Next up, he moves to the side profile and adds that, to keep the project cost affordable, the owner of this particular Fortuner has opted for the less fabrication route. In this way, they do not have to replace the doors, quarter panels, and other parts to convert the vehicle into a complete Legender. For this, they only have to fabricate the rear fenders to add the new LED taillights.
Also, he adds that at the rear, the entire tailgate is replaced with a used Fortuner Type 3 tailgate, as buying a brand new tailgate can shoot up the cost of the project. Next up, he adds that they will also be adding a Legender-style rear bumper, and the overall car will remain in the same white color, but they will add a black roof.
Following the introduction and mentioning all the highlights of this project, the video then shows the technicians of the shop working on this vehicle to fully convert it. They start by removing all the front body parts and then test fit all the new parts. After this, they start fabrication on the rear quarter panel to fit the LED taillights.
The owner of the shop also highlights that they have also made the rear wheel arch thinner to make it look like the Legender. After this, the vehicle then gets into the bodywork phase. The vehicle gets a thin layer of putty, which is then sanded down, and the body panels are given a perfect shape.
Finally, after this, the vehicle goes into the paint booth, where it gets sprayed with white color on the lower half and black color on top. After this, the vehicle gets reassembled with all the parts.
In the same video, the owner of the shop also mentions that the owner of this car has opted for the interior upgrade as well. So, as part of this, he mentions that they have made custom black leather seat covers with red stitching. Also, they have blacked out the rest of the interior and have added red stitching, a Rolls-Royce-like galaxy starlight headliner, and an Innova Hycross-styled steering wheel.
