Toyota Hilux Pick Up Truck Acts Like A Shield: Helps Yaris Sedan Cross Flooded River [Video]

Toyota is a brand that is extremely popular among customers in India. Some of the well-known models in our market include the Innova and the Fortuner. Both these vehicles are appreciated for their reliability and comparatively low maintenance costs. Toyota even offers the Hilux, which is a popular pickup truck internationally. It is known for its extreme capabilities, and there are several examples proving the same. Here we have a video where a Toyota Hilux is seen assisting a Toyota Yaris sedan in crossing a flooded section of a river.

The video has been circulating on various social media platforms. The clip seen here is from the hotheadlines.in Instagram page. In this video, we see a road completely covered in muddy water due to heavy rains. The flow of water, or the current, was very strong for the same reason. The swollen river had actually taken over the road, making crossing to the other side a difficult and risky task.

This isn’t India; it looks like somewhere in South Asia, though the exact location is not known. At this point, a Toyota Hilux is seen approaching the flooded road. On the right-hand side of the Hilux, a Toyota Yaris sedan can also be seen.

Both drivers coordinated, with the Hilux driver helping the sedan get to the other side. The Hilux slowly drove into the flooded road first. Once the Hilux was on the road, it blocked part of the strong current and created a small pocket of calmer water for the Yaris. The Yaris driver then drove his car into this pocket.

Once they were both on the road, the Hilux and the Yaris started moving forward together. The Yaris driver was careful to stay close to the Hilux. The river’s flow was so strong that it could have swept the sedan away, which would have not only damaged the vehicle but also put the lives of the occupants at serious risk.

The Hilux driver maintained a steady speed, and both vehicles slowly inched towards the other side of the road. As they were about to reach the end, the rear bumper of the Yaris was caught in the current. Within seconds, it was ripped off and swept away by the river. Thankfully, the car itself made it to the other side safely, along with its occupants.

The Toyota Hilux, positioned to the left of the sedan, was effectively breaking the force of the water and reducing its impact. Without the Hilux, the Yaris would have stood no chance. While this video is interesting to watch, we would strongly advise against attempting such stunts.

Acts like this are extremely dangerous, and if you ever find yourself in such a situation, it is always safer to wait or look for alternate routes. If your vehicle stalls midway, there is little chance of escape. Never underestimate the power of water, especially in mountainous regions during the monsoon.
