Toyota Innova Crysta EV Gets 700 Nm Of Torque: Showcased At Motor Show

Toyota Innova is one of the most popular MPVs in India. It has been the segment leader in the market for decades now. Over the years, Toyota introduce new models and iternations to the Innova. We got Innova Crysta and we also have the current generation Innova Hycross in the market. While the whole world is moving towards EVs, Toyota also decided to choose the same path using their most popular MPV. At the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show Toyota showcased the EV version of Innova Crysta.
The post has been shared by Indra Radian Fathan on their Instagram page. The exterior design of the car looks the same as regular ICE version which is currently on sale in India. It should be noted that Toyota sells Innova Crysta internationally too and it is known as Kijang. The Innova Kijang BEV Concept gets closed front grille with Toyota logo in the center.
Just like many modern day cars, we see a connecting LED bar running across the width of the car. The headlamp design remains same but, the internals have changed. The LED DRL design is different and the lights are also LED projectors. The front bumper comes with minor changes which gives the Innova an EV like look.
The side profile of the Innova EV concept looks similar to the Crysta. We see thin claddings around the wheel arches that are finished in gloss black shade. The alloy wheel design remains same but, we see a new gun metal grey shade on the wheels. There are Blue graphics on the doors which indicate that this is an EV.
Coming to the rear, the tail lamps are all LED and the first difference here is the connecting LED bar on the tailgate. We have seen this customisation on several regular Innova Crysta MPVs. The rear fender has Innova BEV sticker on it too. The vehicle showcased was finished in a clean looking White shade with blacked out roof.
As this is an EV, Toyota has done many changes to the mechanicals. They have completely removed the engine and replaced it with an electric motor.
The battery pack is likely to be placed under the floor to reduce the center of gravity. The ground clearance of the Innova Crysta EV is not known but, we feel it would have come down slightly because of the battery pack.
The floor height would have also gone up slightly. Coming to the specifications, the Innova Crysta EV showcased at the expo uses a 59.3 kWh battery pack. The battery powers an electric motor which generates a maximum of 179 Bhp and 700 Nm of peak torque. As this is a concept, Toyota has not said anything about the range on this electric MUV.
The interior of the Innova Crysta EV look the same as the ICE version except the center console. There is no gear lever instead there are buttons to switch between the Drive, Neutral and Reverse. The manual handbrake has been retained and we also see premium features like captain seats, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment and so on.
