Toyota, as a brand, holds a stellar reputation among Indian buyers. The Qualis has been a very successful model for the Japanese brand. It was launched in India in January 2000 and continued to be on sale till 2005. The first-generation Innova replaced it here. The Qualis is still known for its reliable nature and comfortable ride. Decades later, the vehicle continues to be in good demand. People often source well-kept units from the used car market and restore them completely. Some even do modifications on these vehicles and turn them into eye candies. One such example was featured in a video shared on the channel Tech Catcher.

In it, we see a Qualis which has over 7 lakh kilometres on its odometer. The current owner is the fifth person to own this MPV. The vehicle has been with him for the past 10 years. It originally had the iconic Green colourway. The owner then modified it in a way that the MPV received a complete makeover.

This Qualis has extensive modifications done to its exterior. The interior makeover is currently a work in progress. Let's get into the details. The paint job is what stands out on this vehicle. It now wears Amber Yellow paint with Pearl finish. The roof is painted Black. The paint job had a cost of Rs 70,000. The side step seems to wear a shade of satin silver.

The bonnet has been wrapped with a textured Black film. It gives it a proper character. More importantly, the owner says that this wrap helps in avoiding scratches. It has also been fitted with twin hydraulic struts. This is still a feature that you find in premium and luxury cars.

The grille looks shiny and has been finished in Black. The headlamps are fitted with LED DRLs. The front bumper also has a metal lip and skirt fitted on it. You can see a long antenna on the hood. This, the owner says, helps the driver in judging the height of the roof box. The vehicle now has a Pentair box mounted on its roof. This, in its stock form, is Black. This owner has painted it Yellow to go well with the vehicle's body colour. The door handles are Chrome-plated.

The vehicle now rides on 15-inch alloy wheels. The owner, however, doesn't recommend this, as the wheels have a fair chance of rubbing against the wheel arches. He further says that he has made slight modifications to the corners of the front wheel arches to avoid this. Plus, he had to use lower-profile tyres.

At the rear, the roof-mounted spoiler has been painted Black. The rear wiper has been sourced from Chevrolet Beat. It has also been fitted with an aftermarket rear bumper and quad exhaust tips. These are, in fact, functional units!

Changes inside the cabin are minimal, for now. This Qualis is the GS variant. The range-topping variant was the RS. The cabin has been converted into that of the RS. This owner has replaced the stock seat belts with Red aftermarket ones. It has also been fitted with features like an aftermarket music system, reversing camera, and more.

The second row now gets captain seats sourced from Tata Safari Dicor. The front row now gets a central armrest, borrowed from the Innova. The owner plans to further improve the upholstery and trims inside.

This vehicle doesn't get any mechanical updates and still runs on the stock engine- the 2.4L, four-cylinder diesel. The owner is determined to keep it and makes sure that all periodic maintenance is done on time.
