20-Year Old Toyota Qualis Restored To Perfection [Video]

Before the launch of the Toyota Innova, the Toyota Qualis was the MPV from the Japanese carmaker that ruled the roads of India. It was known for its reliability, comfortable ride, and versatility. Recently, a video showing the complete restoration project of a 20-year-old Toyota Qualis has been shared online. This particular vehicle has been restored to absolute perfection and now looks like a brand-new car.
The video showing the restoration process of this Toyota Qualis has been shared on YouTube by Autorounders. This particular project was carried out at the Autorounders Pune workshop. The owner of Autorounders explains how this project came to them and the story behind it.
He starts by stating that initially, they had rejected this particular project due to the vehicle being a 2004 model and its condition being very poor. However, after the owner shared with them that this vehicle holds significant sentimental value in their heart, they wanted it to be restored.
The owner of the shop also mentioned that at the time of handing over the vehicle, the Qualis owner stated that they could take as much time as they wanted in the restoration of this vehicle and that the budget was also not a huge concern. Following this, the shop agreed to work on this vehicle.
After the introduction, the video then shows the technicians of the shop disassembling this Qualis. They can be seen removing all the lights, front and rear bumpers, and other body parts. After this, the vehicle goes for denting, and it then goes inside the paint booth, where it is painted in the same color scheme of green and silver.
Finally, after the vehicle gets completely painted, it goes in for final assembly. It gets new headlights and taillights, and all the bumpers can be seen painted in silver. Overall, the vehicle now looks to be in immaculate condition, like the day it was originally delivered.
Most of us know that the Toyota Qualis was one of the best MPVs of its era. It managed to provide a very comfortable ride thanks to its soft suspension. It was also known for its versatility, as it could fit a number of people inside.
The Toyota Qualis was offered in India with two engine options. One of the engines was the 2.4-litre four-cylinder diesel motor, which made 75 bhp and 151 Nm of torque. This was the most popular choice in the Indian market.
On the other hand, the company also offered a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as well. It was capable of producing 91 bhp and 145 Nm of torque. As for transmission, only a five-speed manual gearbox was offered by Toyota.
This legendary MPV was offered in three variants. The first was the Standard trim, and then there were the GS and GS-T variants. The Qualis came in both long-wheelbase and short-wheelbase versions.
The Toyota Qualis enjoyed a successful stint in India. However, due to its aging looks, it was replaced by the Innova MPV, which we all love and appreciate today. The first generation of the Innova was launched in 2005, and at the same time, the iconic Qualis was given a farewell.
