Driving In A Truck's Blind Spot Is The STUPIDEST Thing One Can Do: Live Crash Examples [Video]
A lot of people are still unaware about the concept of blindspot. Well, if you are one of those people, a blindspot is an area around a vehicle which the driver cannot see directly through the ORVMs or the windows. Now, in cars generally the blindspot is smaller, but when it comes to trucks, the size of the blindspot increases. Most people in India make the mistake of driving in a truck’s blindspot. To show you why this is the stupidest thing to do, we have a few examples.
XUV300 sandwiched between trucks
The video showing these examples of cars driving in the blindspot of trucks and buses has been shared on YouTube by Prateek Singh on their channel. In this video, the first example which is shown is of a Mahindra XUV300 SUV. We can note that the XUV300 was following a Hyundai Creta and there was a truck on its right side.
What happened is that the XUV300 driver following the Creta was about to overtake the truck from the left side to go left on the turn ahead. However, as the truck driver also wanted to take the same left turn, he also was driving towards the left side. Unfortunately, there was another truck which was parked on the road, due to which the XUV300 could not turn towards the left to save itself. As a result, it got sandwiched between the two trucks.
Hyundai Aura crashed
The video then shows the second example of what happens when driving in the blindspot of a truck. In this example, a Hyundai Aura was driving on the left side of a truck on a busy highway. We can note that the truck was driving in the overtaking lane, and the Aura driver was left with no choice but to overtake from the right side.
Before doing the same, the Aura driver first honks to alert the truck driver that there is a car on the left side. However, the time between the horn and the overtake was very short, due to which the truck driver did not notice the car.
As a result, the rear right side of the car crashed into the truck's bumper and it turned around and came in front of it. The aftermath of this accident has been shared in the video, which shows the entire right of this sedan destroyed.
Dzire driver almost crashed into a bus
Coming to the third example, a Maruti Suzuki Dzire was seen driving on the left side of a bus. What happens next is that the bus driver starts driving towards the left side, due to which the Dzire driver was not left with any space. Thankfully, despite being at a high speed, the Dzire driver was able to control the vehicle and avoid going off the road or crashing into the bus.
Hyundai Grand i10 crashes into truck and then into Dzire
In the last example, a grey-colored Hyundai Grand i10 was seen driving on the left side of a truck on its blindspot. This time again, like the above examples, the car driver was about to overtake from the left side. However, the truck driver could not note the car's presence and, as a result, the Grand i10’s rear right side crashed into the truck.
What happened next is that the rear right tyre of the car burst and, due to this, the driver lost control of it and it crashed into a Maruti Suzuki Dzire which was driving on the left side. Thankfully, nobody in this example or any of the above examples was harmed.
Never drive in a blindspot
The above examples should help you learn a few lessons. First off, which is never ever to drive closely to a truck on the left side. Also, never try to overtake from the left side either. Lastly, if you are on the left side of a truck, make sure to honk for a while to let the truck driver know about your presence.
