T. S. Kalyanaraman, one of South India’s most respected businessmen, is known for having built two big brands — Kalyan Jewellers and Kalyan Developers. Beyond business, he is also a well-known luxury car collector. A recent Instagram video shared by SmartDrive.in gives us a detailed look inside the family's impressive collection.
From powerful SUVs to rare sedans, this garage is a dream lineup that reflects wealth, taste, and passion for automobiles. Every car in the video belongs to either Mr. Kalyanaraman, his sons, or other members of his family.
BMW XM SUV
One of the most stunning vehicles in the collection is the BMW XM, which costs Rs 2.60 crore (ex-showroom). This plug-in hybrid SUV is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo petrol engine and an electric motor that together produce 653 PS and 800 Nm of torque. With an 88-kilometre electric-only range and an efficiency of around 62 kmpl, the XM is BMW’s most expensive SUV yet. It’s also the first M model to feature a plug-in hybrid system.
Maybach S680
The Mercedes-Maybach S680 seen in the video is painted in a striking dual-tone Rubellite Red Metallic shade. Known for its supreme comfort and high-end features, this sedan comes with a massive 6.0-litre turbo V12 engine that generates 610 PS and 900 Nm of torque. Priced at around Rs 3.44 crore, it offers an unmatched luxury experience and is a favourite among top industrialists and celebrities.
Toyota Vellfire
Also featured is a Toyota Vellfire, a premium MPV known for its spacious cabin and hybrid powertrain. Mr. Kalyanaraman owns the pre-facelift version, finished in black like many of his other cars. It comes with a 2.5-litre petrol engine combined with an electric motor. The Vellfire is priced at around Rs 1.32 crore (ex-showroom).
Audi RS5
The bright red Audi RS5 in the video is a 2012 model powered by a 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine. It produces 450 PS and 430 Nm of torque and comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This powerful coupe, priced at over Rs 1 crore when new, sends power to all four wheels for sharp performance and handling.
Range Rover Vogue
The Kalyan Group’s garage also includes a previous-generation Range Rover Vogue diesel. This model was priced at about Rs 2.77 crore (ex-showroom) and comes with a 4.4-litre V8 diesel engine. It produces 335 Bhp and 740 Nm of torque and offers excellent comfort and off-road ability, thanks to its 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.
Toyota Land Cruiser LC200
Another SUV in the collection is the Toyota Land Cruiser LC200. Priced at around Rs 1.73 crore, this model is a proper off-roader powered by a 4.4-litre V8 diesel engine with 262 Bhp and 650 Nm of torque. It remains a top choice for those who want durability with luxury.
BMW 3-Series and 5-Series
In addition to exotic models, the video also shows a BMW 3-Series and 5-Series sedan. These cars are more suited for everyday driving, offering a perfect mix of comfort, performance, and style.
3 Rolls Royce Cullinans
Mr. Kalyanaraman is a proud owner of not one, but three Rolls Royce Cullinans. Two are regular versions, while one is the more exclusive Black Badge variant. These were delivered on the same day, in an exclusive private event.
The standard model features chrome details, while the Black Badge comes with darker, sportier styling. All are powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbo petrol engine, but the Black Badge gets an extra 29 PS and 50 Nm of torque.
Rolls Royce Phantom
If three Cullinans weren't enough, the garage also houses three Rolls Royce Phantom luxury sedans. One is a Series I, while the other two are Series II models. Each car sports a unique color: black, silver, and white. The Phantom is the pinnacle of luxury and a sign of elite status in the automotive world.
Two Land Rover Defenders
The video also shows two Land Rover Defenders. Afterall, how can an affluent's garage not include a Defender in 2025?! The Kalyan garage seems to have two- one finished in Black and the other in Tasman Blue (HSE variant).
