We have seen people buy new cars and bikes and then directly take it to a nearby temple for blessings before actually driving it. We have seen owners seek blessings for their new ride as they welcome it to family. This is not something that only individuals do. Even manufacturers make offerings to religious institutions. TVS Motor company has now gifted 5 iQube electric scooters to Guruvayoor temple in Kerala as offering.

Image of the newly gifted TVS iQube have been shared by an Instagram page by the name guruvayoor uptodate. The post mentions that the 5 iQube scooters were offered to the temple recently. On behalf of Guruvayoor temple, Devaswom administrator K.P. Vinayan received the scooter and documents.

One behalf of the manufacturers, representatives from the AAJ Centure TVS which is a TVS dealership in Thrissur district of Kerala were present. TVS iQube is available in multiple variants. We assume that the scooter offered by the manufacturer to the temple is the top-end 5.1 kWh battery pack version.

The TVS iQube’s range topping variant offers the biggest battery pack in the segment. It is probably the largest battery capacity of any Indian electric scooter. In terms of design, iQube gets a family scooter like design with not too flashy or sporty design elements. It has a large underseat storage and comes with connected features like in any modern scooter.

The scooter is powered by a 5.1 kWh battery pack which offers a claimed driving range of 150 kms. The scooter has a top speed of 82 kmph and it takes around 4 hrs 18 minutes charge the battery from 0-80 percent. Price for a brand new TVS iQube electric scooters starts at Rs 1.07 lakh and goes all the way till Rs 1.60 lakh, ex-showroom.

This is not the first time, a manufacturer has offered vehicles to Guruvayoor temple. Few years ago, Mahindra had offered the Thar soft top and XUV700 to the same temple as an offering.

The Mahindra Thar offered by the manufacturer had actually stirred up a controversy. The SUV was actually put on auction and was initially sold to the highest bidder who offered to a businessman named Ali. This auction was then cancelled and was later sold to Dubai-based businessman Vignesh Vijayakumar for Rs 50 lakh.

The Mahindra Thar offered to the temple was actually the AX soft top variant. Mahindra had also offered a XUV700 but, it is not clear if this SUV has also been sold in an auction or not. The newly added TVS iQube scooter is likely to be used by the temple staff or there is even a possibility that out of five electric scooters, the Devaswom board might sell a few in an auction to generate revenue for the temple.

Usually vehicles like these depreciate but because of the faith that people have, these vehicles when put up for auction attract a lot of interested parties and lets the board earn revenue. It needs to be seen if the TVS iQube scooters will be used by the temple or not.
