Bengaluru Valet Flees After Crashing Brand New, 1.41 Crore Rupee Mercedes Benz EQE Into Wall

Imagine you went to a restaurant in your car and decided to hand over the keys to a valet. You, along with your family or friends, enter the restaurant under the impression that the person who took your keys will park your car in a proper spot. However, instead of getting your car back, you receive news that it has been involved in a crash. Well, that is exactly what happened to a family from Bengaluru when a valet crashed their ₹1.41 crore Mercedes-Benz SUV into a wall at the parking lot.
The video has been shared by nammabengaluroo on their Instagram page. It was posted with a caption explaining the entire incident. The owner of the Mercedes-Benz EQE electric SUV, along with their family, went to a restaurant called Big BBQ Marathahalli in Bengaluru.
The EQE had been recently bought by the family and was only five months old. Upon reaching the restaurant, they were approached by valets offering their services. The owner was initially hesitant to hand over the keys, as this was an expensive car. They even asked the valet whether he was comfortable parking the vehicle.
The owner even suggested that they would park the car themselves and didn’t need a valet. However, the valet assured them that he would handle the car carefully and park it in a safe spot. As the owner and their family started walking into the restaurant, they noticed that several valets had gathered around the car to check it out. This made the owner uncomfortable, prompting them to return.
The owner once again confirmed with the valet whether he could handle the car properly. The valet reassured them that he could. After this, the family went inside. About 35 minutes later, an employee from the restaurant approached them, asking if they owned a Mercedes-Benz. The owner confirmed that it was their vehicle.
When the owner acknowledged the car, the employee mentioned that it had been involved in a crash and that there was a scratch on the vehicle. Since it was only five months old, the owner became worried and immediately rushed to the parking lot. Initially, they expected a minor scratch based on how the restaurant staff had explained the situation. However, upon reaching the lot, they realized that it was not a minor accident—the valet had somehow crashed into a wall, causing the entire structure to collapse onto the car.
The restaurant staff did not inform the owner immediately; it took them around 35 minutes. By the time the owner arrived, the valet and the entire valet team had fled the scene.
The restaurant staff completely denied responsibility, claiming that the incident had nothing to do with them. Even when the police got involved, they remained uncooperative.
It is assumed that the driver was not well-experienced with electric vehicles and attempted to drive the car like a regular internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle. He may have pressed the accelerator too hard without realizing how quick and powerful EVs can be.
In most restaurants or high-end hotels, valet services are available. In many cases, valet parking is handled by a third party and has no direct connection with the hotel or restaurant. There is no way to determine whether the valet driver is qualified to handle your expensive car.
In such cases, it is always a good idea to park the vehicle yourself. Hotels and restaurants typically do not take responsibility for incidents that occur after you hand over your keys to a valet, as most valet services operate under an "owner's risk" policy.
It is unclear whether a case has been registered against the restaurant or the valet parking agency for crashing such an expensive car. The owner will likely have to bear the expenses for the damage. Additionally, they will have to pay for the expensive paint protection film (PPF), which is not covered by insurance. The value of the car will also depreciate due to the crash, and it will be in the workshop for the next couple of months.
All of this trouble occurred simply because the owner chose to hand over the keys to an inexperienced valet.
