How A Podcast Made Vijay Mallya's Maybach Increase In Value By 75 Lakh

The fugitive billionaire Vijay Mallya, who currently resides in London, was known for having one of the biggest and most unique car collections in India. One of his favorite cars in the collection was his Maybach 62. This particular car was recently listed by Big Boy Toyz for sale and has now been sold. Recently, in a podcast, the owner of Big Boy Toyz revealed how, soon after Vijay Mallya's podcast with Raj Shamani was uploaded, the price of his ex-Maybach increased by 0.75 crore.
The video of the podcast in which the owner of Big Boy Toyz reveals the story behind the sale of Vijay Mallya’s Maybach 62 has been shared on YouTube by RMP Clips on their channel. During this podcast, the host asks Jatin Ahuja, the owner of Big Boy Toyz, an interesting question. He asked him what they (at Big Boy Toyz) do when they have more buyers for any particular car.
To this, the owner, Ahuja, replied that this recently happened with them. He elaborated that they had Vijay Mallya's Maybach 62 for sale on their website for Rs 1.5 crore. Ahuja continued and mentioned that there were around 3–4 buyers for this luxury sedan who were negotiating the price. Some of them were offering around Rs 1.4 crore, Rs 1.3 crore, and other lower offers.
However, just after the podcast dropped, one of their customers sent them a deposit of Rs 10 lakh for the Maybach after agreeing on the price of Rs 1.5 crore. Ahuja then added that after they received the deposit, there is a preparation time of around one week before the delivery of the vehicle takes place. During this time, the owner of BBT highlighted that they started receiving new offers for the vehicle.
He mentions that the same buyers who were negotiating the price of Rs 1.5 crore were now offering them bigger offers than the initial asking price. One of these buyers offered BBT Rs 1.8 crore, meanwhile another offered Rs 2 crore. Lastly, one of the buyers even offered them Rs 2.25 crore as well. However, just because of their ethics and policy, they did not entertain any other offers and sold the car to the person who booked it first.
The owner of BBT then elaborated that they have a 100 percent refund policy for the booking amount. Due to this, many of their customers book cars before finalizing them and then cancel at the last moment. He continued and mentioned that they have the highest cancellation rate in the industry at 33 percent. But they do not have any problem as their inventory is very fast-moving.
During the podcast, the owner of BBT mentioned that there are only three Maybach 62s in the entire country and there will never be a fourth, as the model has been discontinued. Due to this, the demand for this SUV will only increase. Vijay Mallya's Maybach 62 is finished in a classy shade of black and deep gold, which makes it extremely unique.
His Maybach had only covered 33,971 km and was being offered with the VIP registration number “9999.” This 2009 Maybach 62 came powered by a 5.5-liter V12 engine, which was capable of producing 543 bhp and 900 Nm of torque. As for the transmission, it came with a 5-speed automatic transmission, and all the power was sent to the rear wheels.
