Driver’s Hilarious Apology Call After Flipping A Truck: Viral Video Decoded

The video of an overturned truck is now going viral on platforms like Instagram and YouTube. In it, we see ‘the driver calling his boss to inform him about the accident, with an apology’. The way he does this has set the internet laughing. The boss can be heard listening to him calmly. The internet loved the content. Not everyone realised that it wasn’t a real accident, but a scripted, well-executed video content put out by a group of video creators (read: influencers).
This short-form video was originally shared by Vivek Singh on Instagram. He works in real estate, as can be seen in the bio. The clip opens showing a truck that has overturned on the highway. Its driver, wearing modest clothes, is seen walking towards the camera, with a phone in his hand. He seems to be slightly shaken and quickly dials someone.
As soon as the call gets connected, we see him informing the other end about the incident. ‘Arey Malik... vo thoda sa galti ho gayi...’ (roughly translating to ‘Sir, I made a small mistake.’) The video also has the boss’ reaction. He seems puzzled and asks the driver what happened. As the two continue to talk, we understand that the driver was sleepy and ended up flipping the truck, the previous night. The vehicle here is a concrete mixer truck.
The driver says that he is completely unhurt. The owner then asks if the vehicle took serious damage, to which he says ‘Thoda sa’. The next few visuals, however, show the actual damage to be sizeable. This disparity has also set the internet laughing.
There is some oddly likeable innocence in the way this driver speaks. He then asks the boss to send some money and a crane to get the vehicle recovered and gives him details of the location. In the video, the boss doesn’t lose his temper, nor does he shout. This behaviour attracted a lot of attention.
This video got massive traction online. Netizens actively engaged with it. Most people got the humour in it, and appreciated the same in comments. Some users thought this to be a real incident and appreciated the ‘owner’ for being so nice to his employee.
‘Lots of love to Malik’s handling. Need this type of mentality.’- wrote a user. ‘Driver aur Malik dono ache insan hai.’- commented another, roughly translating to ‘both the driver and boss are good persons.’ As viewership continued to shoot up, more pages reposted and reshared this video. The team has also shared a few follow-up videos of this, on their Instagram. This, however, is the best of the lot...
Yes, this is scripted content. The only thing ‘real’ in this video would probably be the concrete mixer that overturned on the highway. These content creators literally used it to go viral! The star of the show here, is the person who played the truck driver. His portrayal of the reactions, gestures, looks, and accent were all perfect. Hari Dubey, an artist from Uttar Pradesh, played this character. He is, in fact, quite big on Instagram and has over 1.7 million followers!
This video has already become a template on Instagram. Many instagrammers and content creators are now recreating their own versions of it, most of which are, interestingly, getting a lot of views online. Some filmed different versions of it from near the same ‘flipped truck’, while others created GTA 5 versions with original clip’s audio! Someone even stitched the audio to visuals of a crashed Cessna, elevating the trend to a whole new level! The creator ecosystem is indeed crazy...
