5 New Volkswagen Cars And SUVs Lined Up For India In 2025

Volkswagen India recently announced that they’ll be bringing in more products for the Indian market as part of their product expansion. Volkswagen has been relatively quiet in 2024, but it looks like they have different plans for 2025. Here is a list of five new Volkswagen cars and SUVs that are lined up for the Indian market this year.
This is a car that Volkswagen has been evaluating for the Indian market for years. Recently, the brand confirmed that they’ll be launching the Golf GTI in India this year. This is a hot hatchback, and it will be introduced in the Indian market under the government’s homologation-free import scheme. It will be sold as a CBU, which means it is not going to be an affordable hot hatch. The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates around 245 bhp. The Golf GTI is expected to be priced at around ₹50 lakh.
Another model that Volkswagen recently confirmed is the Tiguan R-Line. When launched, it will be the most expensive ICE model from Volkswagen in India. This is, in fact, the performance-oriented version of the five-seater SUV Tiguan, which is already on sale in the Indian market. The Tiguan R-Line will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 250 PS. The SUV will get a sporty exterior look with cosmetic upgrades that differentiate the regular version from the R-Line model. Just like the Golf GTI, it will also be sold as a CBU, and it is expected to be priced at around ₹60 lakh.
Volkswagen’s first sub-4-meter SUV, the Tera, was recently unveiled globally. The SUV will be launched in the Indian market as well. It was officially unveiled at the Rio de Janeiro Samba School Parade at the Marquês de Sapucaí in Rio de Janeiro. The exterior design of the Tera looks inspired by other Volkswagen SUVs. It is based on the same platform as the Virtus and Taigun. The SUV will be offered with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. There are reports that the SUV will also get the more powerful 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. While the SUV has been unveiled internationally, the India launch is expected to happen by the end of this year or in 2026.
The Virtus sedan has been popular in the mid-size segment since its launch. It is currently the entry-level Volkswagen in the Indian market. It has been around for quite some time, and with Volkswagen’s plans to launch EVs getting delayed, they have decided to offer mid-life updates for the sedan. The facelifted version might come with minor exterior changes and could benefit from feature updates like Level 2 ADAS.
Just like the Virtus, the Taigun will also get a facelift this year. The SUV competes with the likes of the Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in the segment. Just like the sedan, the SUV will also get minor exterior changes along with feature updates. Both the SUV and sedan will continue to use the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI engines. Both these models are likely to be launched in the market later this year.
