Wrong Side Driving On Flyover: Auto Driver Causes Rs. 1 Lakh Damage To Kia Sonet [Video]

A lot of drivers in India, just to save a little bit of time, drive on the wrong side of the road. These drivers do not think about the inconvenience and risk they pose for the other unsuspecting drivers on the road. Recently, showing how one auto driver's wrong-side driving caused damage of Rs 1 lakh to another person's car, a video has been shared online. In this clip, the autorickshaw driver can be clearly seen coming from the wrong side on a turn on a flyover and then crashing into the car.

Wrong-side driving autorickshaw crashes into Sonet

This video of an autorickshaw driver causing an accident due to wrong-side driving has been shared on YouTube by Bad Drivers of Bangalore on their channel. This particular clip was recorded by the dashcam of a Kia Sonet sub-compact SUV. As per the video, the car was being driven on a flyover in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

The caption states that there was a median on this flyover and the driver of this car was driving in the left lane, which was his designated route. It can then be seen that as the flyover had a few twists and turns, the driver was driving at a normal speed. Unfortunately, what happens is that on one of the long right turns, the driver was driving in the right lane of this road, and suddenly, an autorickshaw came out of nowhere.

We can note that this autorickshaw was coming from the wrong side, and it was being followed by a scooter as well. Now, as the auto came abruptly in front of the car driver, he could not steer to the left immediately. Also, it can be seen that it was raining and the road was wet; the car driver's one attempt to avert the accident also failed. The video then shows the autorickshaw crashing onto the front right side of the car.

Aftermath of this accident

As a result of this accident, the white Kia Sonet, which looked like it was recently bought, had to suffer a lot of damage. The front right portion of the vehicle has taken a major hit. The entire right headlight, fender, and right side of the bumper have been destroyed by the autorickshaw. The owner of this vehicle has mentioned that the total bill for repair of this damage came out to Rs 1.1 lakh. Out of this, Rs 9,000 was paid by him, and the rest was paid by insurance.

Wrong-side driving is extremely dangerous

This is not the first time that we have seen two vehicles colliding after driving on the wrong side. Last year, a video was shared online in which a Tata pickup truck was driving on a flyover on the wrong side. It was then noted that another Tata pickup truck, which was likely a bank cash-carrying vehicle, was coming from the other side.

Now, as this Tata pickup, from which the video was being recorded, came in front from the wrong side very quickly, the other pickup truck driver did not have time to stop this crash. Also, as the road was wet due to rain, the two vehicles crashed. It was noted from the video that the driver of the wrong-side-driving pickup truck was lodged between the seat and the steering wheel.
