Indian Billionaire Yohan Poonawalla’s Multi Crore ‘Weekend Wheels’ Convoy On Video

Indian billionaire Yohan Poonawalla is well known for his multi-crore car collection. He owns several high-end cars, including Ferraris, Rolls-Royces, and Bentleys. The businessman is respected for his taste in classic and vintage cars as well. A video shared online shows some cars from the Poonawalla collection rolling through the streets of Mumbai.
Seven cars from the Poonawalla garage are seen on video this time. These include those used by the security personnel as well. These cars seem to be on their weekend outing. In the video, a classic Mercedes-Benz station wagon (likely to be a W123) is seen first. This is, in fact, a rare find in India. Next to it, a Mercedes-Benz SLS- the carmaker’s iconic modern classic with gull-wing doors- is also seen. It was recently restored to the factory specifications.
The SLS was first showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2010, and made its official India entry in July that year. It impressed with both its design and powertrain capabilities. Back in the day, it had a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 2 crores.
Purists were impressed by its design. The enormous hood, sleek tail section, and the low stance were all brilliant. The gull-wing doors only added to the overall drama. This car came with an aviation-inspired interior design- something very fancy for its era!
Powering the SLS AMG is a beefed-up 6.3-litre AMG V8 mated to a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission. It was, in fact, the first independently developed vehicle by AMG! Even today, the SLS AMG is cherished by enthusiasts, and the latest reports point to a sharp rise in its prices in the pre-owned market.
In the video, following the SLS is an older-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom VII. This generation was in production for 13 years, starting in 2003. Driving parallel to it is a White BMW X7. This seems to be the facelifted model, launched in 2023. It now has an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 1.25 crores and comes with the choice of 3.0-litre, inline-six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The diesel makes 340hp and 700Nm, while the petrol has an output of 381hp and 520Nm.
We then see a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe rolling. The seventh generation used to be offered in both convertible and two-door coupe forms- called Drophead Coupe and Phantom Coupe respectively. The first came in 2007, while the two-door coupe joined a year later. It had the same 6.75-liter, naturally aspirated V12 petrol engine as the regular Phantom, capable of producing around 454hp.
Another member of this convoy is a Bentley Flying Spur, finished in White. This is an older-generation model, likely powered by the 6.0L twin-turbo W12 petrol engine producing 607 hp and 800 Nm of torque.
At the tail end is a Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition, the production of which was limited to just 300 units worldwide. This SUV has a number plate that reads ‘MH12 XT 007’- a nod to James Bond’s designation. Land Rover revealed the Bond Edition on the Defender in 2021. ,No Time to Die movie, the final instalment in Daniel Craig’s Bond franchise, released in 2021, featured the new Defender.
The Bond edition was available on both the 90 and 110 body styles. It featured several bespoke styling details and came with a stunning Black body colour. The 22-inch wheels were finished in Black while the callipers were Blue. Several '007' badges can also be found on the SUV. Under its hood is a 518bhp, 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine. The Bond Edition Defender is capable of doing the 0-100kph sprint in just 4.9 seconds.
