Influencer Who Got Stranded By Mahindra Thar ROXX In Ladakh Buys Jeep Wrangler Rubicon As Replacement
Murshid Basheer, also known by the name ‘Murshid Bandidos, ’ needs no preface among car and bike enthusiasts. He is an entrepreneur and also creates content on cars, bikes, and motorsport on Instagram and YouTube. He has over 5 lakh followers on Instagram and 2.3 lakh subscribers on YouTube. He recently made headlines after getting stranded in the Himalayas due to a DPF issue with his newly bought Thar ROXX. Upset by the incident, he has now replaced the ROXX with a brand-new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. In a video shared on his channel, Murshid explains how he decided to switch to the Rubicon and how he managed to grab the best deal, along with giving us a closer look at the butch SUV.
Murshid Basheer Buys New Rubicon
The video starts by showing him explaining his journey so far as a creator. Mahindra Thar has remained an important part of his journey. He has owned a 3-door Thar in the past. Soon after taking its delivery, he did a tyre upgrade. Then, videos of him doing some crazy stunts with the vehicle were filmed.
While doing so, the vehicle lost control and overturned- on camera! The video was soon shared online and in no time, it went viral. This, he says, gave him ample traction online and helped his channel grow. He, however, adds that the ‘flipping’ wasn’t intentional.
Murshid then talks about how the 5-door Thar ROXX came to his life and what he liked about it. Soon, he describes the controversial incident in which a DPF issue of the vehicle stranded him in the Himalayas. He even says that Mahindra’s customer care, RSA, and even the management did not live up to his expectations with the assistance provided. Apparently, all these made him buy a Rubicon as a replacement/upgrade.
Soon after he got stranded by the ROXX, Murshid had openly admitted that he would soon go for a better, more reliable, rugged replacement. A video that surfaced later, gave us the first look at the vehicle.
It was filmed on an aesthetic trail in Kodaikanal, and shows the Rubicon in its natural habitat, doing what it does best- conquering trails and terrain. In the new video, we also get to see how this clip was filmed and the effort that has gone into it.
The video further shows Murshid and his family taking delivery of the vehicle. This influencer is from Kerala. He, however, managed to source this particular SUV from Bangalore. It was delivered by KHT Prime, and before you ask, this is not a used car. The entrepreneur managed to strike a good deal with the help of ‘Roadway Cars’, and bought the SUV in the ‘Anvil Clear Coat’ paint option.
Built, Not Bought!
Murshid has installed several accessories, add-ons, and aftermarket parts on the new Wrangler Rubicon. He has given it a FOX lift kit and suspension setup. It also gets an off-road bumper, fog lamps with integrated DRLs, modified fender, and rock lights.
The vehicle rides on 17-inch ‘Fuel’ off-road wheels. The Wrangler Rubicon is a global off-road icon. Finding aftermarket parts and accessories for it is thus easy. This owner imported many of the components from abroad.
Talking of specifications, the Rubicon is powered by a 2.0L Gme T4 petrol engine that produces 270 hp and 400 Nm. It comes mated to an 8-speed transmission and capable 4x4 hardware.
The Wrangler Rubicon received a significant update in 2024, which brought an improved dashboard layout and more features to the vehicle, making it more practical and easier to live with. At present, the Rubicon has an ex-showroom price of Rs 71.65 lakh.
