Mahindra launched the Carbon Edition Scorpio-N in February this year. An all-Black colour remains its biggest highlight. The Carbon edition starts at Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes only in the higher Z8 and Z8L trims. The special edition has a price premium of Rs 20,000 over the regular variants.

The larger design remains the same as the standard SUV. The exterior colourway is Black. The 18-inch alloy wheels wear Gloss Black. On the standard SUV, these are diamond-cut units. Plus, the Carbon edition also gets Black window garnish, blacked-out roof rails, front and rear bumpers get dark grey skid plates (the standard SUV has these in Silver), dark door cladding, dark Chrome inserts on door handles, and Blacked out ORVMs.

Inside, the Carbon Edition gets extensive reworks. The cabin has an all-Black theme. The standard vehicle comes with a Black-Mocha Brown combination. The overall design and layout remain the same as the standard model. The leatherette seats are finished in Black and AC vents have a brushed Aluminium trim. These can be found near the touchscreen panel as well.

The feature list on the Carbon edition remains the same as that on the corresponding variants of the non-Carbon SUV. The Z8 comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a single-pane sunroof, a wireless phone charger, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, auto AC, automatic headlights and wipers, and a 12-speaker Sony sound system.

The safety features offered include six airbags, ESC, front and rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, hill hold, driver drowsiness detection, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, all-wheel disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and more.

There are no mechanical changes on the Carbon Edition. It comes with two engine options- the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and 2.2-litre diesel. The petrol produces 203 PS and 370 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. The diesel engine has an output of 175 PS and 370 Nm of torque. It offers the choice of both manual and automatic transmissions as well.

4x4 hardware is offered only on the diesel engine. Both 4WD and Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) can be had. Petrols however, are all RWDs. Rawani seems to have bought the 4XPLOR variant. We don't know if it is a manual or an automatic though...
