10 Affordable Electric SUVs Launching Soon

Electric SUVs continue to enjoy strong demand in India's evolving EV landscape. The momentum is expected to be sustained in the time ahead as well, and several manufacturers are already planning to capitalise on the same. Here are 10 affordable electric SUVs that are set to launch in India soon. Considering the market dynamics today, we've taken 30 lakh rupees (ex-showroom) as the upper ceiling for this compilation.

Vinfast VF6

The Vietnamese carmaker Vinfast is new to the Indian market. Initially, it is expected to bring two models to our market, one of which is the VF6. It will compete with the Hyundai Creta EV here and will be 4.2m long. The EV will come with an attractive design and will have a comfortable, tech-packed cabin. Most vehicle functions will be integrated into the central touchscreen.

The VF6 will be based on a born-electric platform and will come with a 59.6kWh battery pack. The EV's powertrain will be capable of producing 200 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. It will have a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) layout. 0-100 kph sprint is claimed to be done in just under nine seconds. The vehicle is claimed to offer a range of 440 km per charge.

Vinfast VF7

The VF7 is the next big launch from Vinfast. It will sit above the VF6 in the carmaker's lineup. It will be powered by a 75.3 kWh battery pack and come with a single motor setup which produces 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. This battery pack is claimed to deliver a range of 450 km per charge. Rumour also has it that the carmaker would launch a more powerful version, which will have 349 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque on offer. It will be able to do the 0-100 kph run in just 5.8 seconds.

Syros EV

Kia India is known to be working on a Syros-based EV. It has been spotted on test multiple times. It will be the second mass-market EV from Kia, after the recently launched Clavis EV. The Syros EV will stand close to the petrol/diesel Syros in its design. A lot will be shared in the equipment list as well. The powertrain details of the Syros EV aren't known yet.

Expected Launch: Early 2026

Maruti eVitara

The eVitara will be the first all-electric offering from Maruti Suzuki. It will come in three grades/ trims when launched- Delta, Zeta and Alpha. It will compete with the likes of Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and Mahindra BE6. Maruti will manufacture it at the Gujarat facility.

The eVitara will have a classic two-box layout. It will have tri-slash LED DRLs, charging ports that sit on the front flanks, and flared rear wheel arches. The cabin will be packed with modern technologies and features like digital driver display, a large infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, electric parking brake with auto hold, and ADAS.

The electric SUV will be offered with two battery choices- 49kWh and 61kWh- both sourced from BYD. The larger unit is claimed to have a range of over 500 km per charge. The smaller battery version will have an output of 144hp and 189Nm while the larger will have 174hp on tap. The carmaker has based this vehicle on the Heartect-e EV platform.

Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV

This will be the first mass-market electric vehicle from Toyota in India, and will essentially be a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki eVitara. We saw it in the concept form at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The Urban Cruiser BEV will have notable visual differentiations from the Maruti sibling. Equipment levels too will be identical. There will not be any change in the powertrains either.

Expected Launch: Late 2025

Tata Punch.EV Facelift

Tata Motors is readying a major facelift of the Punch micro-SUV. It is expected to arrive later this year. Soon after the petrol model's market entry, the facelift is expected to make its way to the EV as well. The Punch.EV continues to be in good acceptance and the facelift will bring notable improvements to it. The current battery pack is expected to be retained on the new vehicle as well. More details of the update are yet to surface.

Expected Launch: Early 2026 (Tentative)

Tata Sierra.EV

Tata Motors is set to resurrect the legendary 'Sierra' nameplate and there will be an EV form as well. It will be based on the Acti.EV+ and will likely borrow the battery packs from the Harrier.EV. The Harrier has both RWD and AWD versions on sale and comes with a powertrain that produces up to 316 PS and 504 Nm on the range-topping variant. This will likely make it to the Sierra as well.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Mahindra plans to beat the hot-selling Nexon EV and MG Windsor EV with the XUV 3XO-based EV. This electric SUV will have two battery pack options- 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh. The expected range figures are 359 km and 456 km respectively. While most of the design cues will be shared with the petrol/diesel counterpart, the EV will have distinctive elements like a closed-off grille, tweaked bumpers, and a slightly revised tailgate.

Mahindra XEV 7e

Mahindra is readying the all-electric version of the XUV 700 and might call it the XEV 7e when launched. It will compete with the Harrier.EV and is expected to come with All Wheel Drive (AWD) tech as well.

The XEV 7e will be underpinned by the same INGLO platform as the XEV 9e and BE 6. It will likely come with the same battery packs as well- 59 kWh and 79 kWh. Some reports also say that Mahindra could give the AWD version a bigger battery pack.

Mahindra Rall-E

We first saw the Rall-E as a concept. It is in fact, a more rugged, rally-going version of the BE6 and will thus come with AWD. The carmaker has lately been conducting road trials of this SUV. It too will be based on the INGLO platform and will compete with the Harrier.EV when launched.
