2024 Kia Carnival MPV And EV9 Electric SUV Launched In India

The South Korean automaker Kia India has finally launched the much-awaited Carnival MPV and the EV9 electric SUV in India. Both of these premium models expand the lineup of Kia cars in India. The Carnival MPV has been launched with a price tag of Rs 63.9 lakh. As for the Kia EV9, it has been priced at Rs 1.29 crore. The bookings for the Carnival commenced on the 16th of September, and for the EV9, they started around the same time.
As mentioned, the new fifth-generation Kia Carnival premium MPV has been launched at the price of Rs 63.9 lakh. It will be offered in a single Limousine+ variant.
Starting on the outside, the all-new Kia Carnival premium MPV boasts a much more aggressive yet classy appearance than before. It now features a front fascia similar to the Seltos and the more expensive EV9 SUV. It gets inverted L-shaped LED DRLs and LED headlights.
It also gets a new front grille and a redesigned front bumper with a silver skid plate on the bottom. The side profile has also been changed completely and now boasts an SUV-like appearance. It gets new 19-inch alloy wheels and a new design for the powered gates and roof rails.
Apart from this, at the rear, it gets similar inverted L-shaped LED taillights. They appear to be connected, but they are not fully connected. It also gets a slightly sportier-looking rear bumper with reverse parking sensors and a camera.
Now moving to the interior of the new fifth-generation Carnival, it gets a completely new dashboard layout. This time around, it is much more technologically advanced. It boasts twin 12.3-inch screens, one of which is the touchscreen infotainment system, and the other is a digital instrument gauge cluster.
It also gets three-zone climate control, an 11-inch head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and second-row powered relaxation seats with ventilation and leg support. Other features include a smart sliding door, electric tailgate, and dual electric sunroof.
Apart from these, the SUV also comes equipped with a ton of safety features, including ADAS. Its ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring.
In terms of the powertrain, Kia has retained the same 2.2-litre diesel engine from the previous generation model. It makes 197 bhp and 440 Nm of torque and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Kia EV9 is a unique, boxy-looking SUV that boasts a modern and futuristic appearance. According to Kia, it features the brand’s new Digital Tiger Face. Like all EVs, the EV9 comes with a closed-off grille, L-shaped LED DRLs, and vertically stacked LED headlights.
It also gets massive 20-inch alloy wheels. There are also flush-type door handles, which give it a very sleek appearance. At the rear, it gets vertically mounted LED taillights that also have the L-shape. The rear bumper is very simple and features a chunky silver skid plate. The sleek design of the EV9 helps it achieve a drag coefficient of 0.28.
On the inside, the Kia EV9 features a very clutter-free dashboard layout. The main highlight of this dashboard is the twin 12.3-inch screens, like in the Carnival. It also gets touch-based buttons for the automatic climate control system. As for the seating layout, it is a three-row layout that comes with captain seats in the middle with a massage function.
Other features of the Kia EV9 include a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, three-zone climate control, a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, and a 360-degree camera. It also offers Level 2 ADAS with over 27 features. Additionally, it comes with 100+ connected car features.
As for the electric powertrain of the Kia EV9, it comes with dual electric motors. It makes a maximum power of 384 PS and 700 Nm of peak torque. In terms of the battery pack, it offers a massive 99.8 kWh battery pack.
It provides a claimed range of 561 km on a single full charge. The EV9 can be charged from 10-80 percent in just 24 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger
