Mahindra Automotive, after reading us for so long, has finally launched the highly anticipated Thar Roxx five-door SUV in the country. This model has been launched in six main variants and 18 different trims. Now, if you are one of those enthusiasts looking to choose the perfect variant of the Mahindra Thar Roxx, then you have come to the right place. Following are the details of all the variants of the Mahindra Thar Roxx on offer.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Details

The Thar Roxx, as mentioned, is available in six main variants: MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, and AX7L. These variants will come with a mix of rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and four-wheel-drive (4WD) configurations. This SUV also gets two engine options. The first is a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, and the other is a 2.2-liter diesel engine.

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX1 – The Base Variant

First off, let’s talk about the base MX1 variant of the Thar Roxx. This entry-level model of the Thar Roxx lineup has been introduced with a price of Rs 12.99 lakh for the petrol version. Meanwhile, the diesel variant has been launched with a price tag of Rs 13.99 lakh.

The base trim of the Thar Roxx variant comes with an extensive list of standard features that make it a decent offering. The MX1 comes available with two engine options: a 162 bhp 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 152 bhp 2.2-liter diesel engine with a similar gearbox setup.

As for the exterior, the MX1 features LED projector headlights and taillamps, 18-inch steel wheels, and a dual-tone exterior finish. Meanwhile, the interior comes fitted with fabric upholstery, a semi-digital driver’s display, and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen.

For comfort and convenience, even in the base variant, the company offers push-button start, manual air conditioning with rear vents, and height-adjustable front seat belts. As for safety, it gets six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) with a brake locking differential, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX3

The second variant in the Thar Roxx lineup is the MX3 variant. This variant adds to the list of MX1 features. It starts at Rs 14.99 lakh for the petrol automatic and Rs 15.99 lakh for the diesel manual. This particular variant offers the same 162 bhp 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine but adds a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the diesel variant comes with the 152 bhp 2.2-liter engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The MX3 also introduces drive modes (Zip and Zoom) and selectable terrain modes for snow, sand, and mud. It also offers cruise control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a wireless phone charger.

In addition, the MX3 variant comes with a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen that supports wireless Android Auto and wired Apple CarPlay. Additional convenience features include a rear armrest with a cup holder, rear defogger, and an electrically adjustable outside rearview mirror (ORVM). The MX3 also adds safety with a reverse camera and a rear wiper and washer.

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX5

Next up in the lineup is the Mahindra Thar Roxx MX5 variant. This variant has been priced between Rs 16.49 lakh and Rs 18.49 lakh. This variant is available with the same powertrain options as the MX3 – the 162 bhp 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine and the 152 bhp 2.2-liter diesel engine. However, the MX5 introduces an important option for off-road enthusiasts, which is a 4×4 diesel variant with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The MX5 variant, in terms of features, comes equipped with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and LED front fog lights. The interior also gets upgraded with leatherette seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and footwell lighting.

It also gets the addition of an Electronic Locking Differential (ELD) in the 4×4 variants. Additionally, it also features a single-pane sunroof, auto headlamps, auto wipers, and front parking sensors. There is also an acoustic windshield that makes the cabin a little quieter.

Mahindra Thar Roxx AX3L

Stepping into the AX trim levels, the company is offering the AX3L variant priced at Rs 16.99 lakh. This trim comes powered by a 152 bhp 2.2-liter diesel engine paired with a manual gearbox. The highlight of this variant is the Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It includes features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.

The AX3L also comes with a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display and connected car technology. Drivers will also be able to control various functions via voice commands. This variant also boasts an electric parking brake with Auto Hold, fully automatic climate control, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Mahindra Thar Roxx AX5L

The second-top variant of the Thar Roxx lineup is the AX5L variant. This variant has been priced at Rs 18.99 lakh for the diesel automatic. It includes all the features of the AX3L and adds Mahindra’s exclusive CrawlSmart and Intelliturn systems, available in the 4×4 automatic variants.

The AX5L comes powered by the same 2.2-liter diesel engine. However, it also gets the more powerful tune for the diesel engine that makes 175 bhp. The variant also comes with the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission for both RWD and 4WD configurations. In addition to the off-road enhancements, the AX5L retains the twin HD 10.25-inch infotainment and digital cluster screens with Adrenox Connect.

Mahindra Thar Roxx AX7L

The range-topping variant of the Mahindra Thar Roxx is the AX7L variant. It has been priced at Rs 19.99 lakh for the petrol automatic and Rs 20.49 lakh for the diesel automatic. This variant offers the most feature-rich experience in the Thar Roxx lineup.

It is available with both RWD and 4×4 configurations and includes all the advanced features from the AX5L, such as CrawlSmart and Intelliturn. The AX7L variant stands out with its 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats.

The interior also gets further enhanced with a 6-way powered driver’s seat, a cooled glove box, and a premium 9-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. As for safety, it gets a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, and front parking camera.
