Facelifted Mahindra XUV700: New Video Shows More Details Of Updated Design

The XUV700 has been a key product for Mahindra. It was launched in August 2021. The SUV was well-packaged and way ahead of its competition at launch. It soon rose to acceptance, and today, Mahindra has a solid presence in the premium D segment. The Indian carmaker is currently working on a significant facelift/update for the XUV 700. This will be the first notable update since launch, and will bring to the table comprehensive revisions in various areas. A new video of the camouflaged test mule shared online shows more details of the design changes that are to be expected.
Test mule sightings of the new XUV700 have increased recently, hinting at the launch date getting closer. The latest set of images shows the new XUV from up close. It still has heavy camouflage on. However, certain design details are visible.
Look closely and you will notice that there’s a new front grille. It now has a more layered appearance and shorter vertical slats. The open front grille also confirms that this is the XUV 700 and not the XEV 7e.
Another detail to notice is the new headlamp cluster. The updated XUC will come with projector setups and not reflector-based ones. This video gives us a closer look at these units. The LED headlamp units also seem to have been restyled slightly. The LED DRL signature too, will have a slightly different design compared to the C-shaped unit on the current SUV.
The front bumper is expected to get major design deviations from that of the present model. The bonnet, however, remains largely similar to that of the current XUV. No big changes can be spotted in the side view either, atleast on the camouflaged mule. The new SUV will come with flush-type door handles and side cladding. The wheels, however, will be new.
At the rear, we expect to find a refreshed taillamp cluster, slightly tweaked tailgate design, refreshed spoiler design and new rear bumpers.
In addition to cosmetic upgrades, the facelifted XUV 700 will also come with an updated feature list. The outgoing model already has a lot of features and tech in it. The upcoming XUV 700 will likely take things to a whole new level. It is expected to get a triple-screen cluster like the XEV 9e along with a slew of other features.
When it was launched for the first time, the XUV 700 made big headlines for its audio system. Mahindra partnered with Sony to offer an immersive 3D premium audio system in it, which featured SONY’s signature sound blocks technology.
On the facelift, however, this will likely be replaced with Harman Kardon speakers- just like what you see in the XEV 9e and BE6. The XEV 9e has a 16-speaker system with Dolby Atmos and a peak output of 1400 Watts. This will bring about major upgrade in the overall audio experience.
Previous spy shots have also hinted at the new XUV 700 having an XEV 9e-like steering wheel, in its production form. The vehicle may also get ADAS Level 2+ features. We hope to learn more about this in the upcoming weeks.
No major changes are expected on the mechanical front. At present, the XUV700 offers two engine options- 2.0L Turbo Petrol (mStallion) and 2.2L Turbo Diesel (mHawk). Both manual and automatic transmissions can be had on both engines. These will likely be carried over to the facelift as well. The facelift will continue to battle the likes of Tata Harrier, Safari, MG Hector and Hector Plus in the Indian market.
