Which Variant of 2024 Maruti Swift Has Most Demand And Which Has The Least?
The fourth-generation Maruti Swift was launched on May 9 this year. Bookings for this new hatchback had already started, and deliveries have also begun. Since its launch, Maruti has dispatched 19,393 units of the Maruti Swift to dealers. Based on the available numbers, it looks like the majority of customers are opting for the mid-spec VXI variant.
Almost 60 percent of the customers who buy the Swift are opting for either the VXI or VXI(O) variants. Higher variants like the ZXI and ZXI+ currently contribute to 19 percent of the total bookings. Only 11 percent of the customers have opted for the entry-level LXI variant. Except for the base LXI variant, all other versions of the Swift get the AMT gearbox option. This is reflected in the bookings, as 17 percent of the total bookings are for the AMT variants.
Why is VXI variant so popular?
The price for a brand-new Maruti Suzuki Swift starts at Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Just like all Maruti cars, the base LXi variant of the new Swift is very basic. It offers limited features like halogen projector headlamps, blacked-out door handles and front grille, power windows, manually adjustable ORVMs, 14-inch steel rims, and so on.
As this is too basic, many customers try to stay away from it. It doesn’t even come with a company-fitted infotainment system. This is one of the reasons why only 11 percent of customers have booked the LXi variant.
The VXi and VXi(O) variants are fairly loaded and are not as expensive as the top-end ZXI and ZXI+ variants. Besides the features the base variant gets, the VXI variant offers 14-inch steel rims with covers, body-colored door handles and wing mirrors, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a height-adjustable driver seat, rear parcel tray, day/night IRVM, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 4 speakers, and steering-mounted controls. The VXI(O) variant gets electrically folding ORVMs, connected car features, keyless entry, and push-button start.
When customers compare the prices of all the variants, both lower and higher, the mid-spec VXI variant looks good to them and feels like a value-for-money product. The lower LXI variant is too basic, and the ZXI & ZXI+ are too expensive.
Not many people are willing to spend over Rs 9 lakh on a hatchback when they have other options in the market. India is a price-sensitive market, and a customer always looks for a deal that benefits them the most. This is the primary reason why VXI and VXI(O) variants are so popular among buyers.
The fourth-generation Maruti Swift is powered by an all-new 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This new engine is tuned for better efficiency and driveability in the city. The all-new Swift generates 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak torque. It has a claimed fuel economy of 24.8 kmpl for the manual version, and the AMT version returns 25.75 kmpl. Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce the CNG variant of the new Swift in the market. In future, Maruti will also be introducing their Series Hybrid Technology in the new Swift.
