The French automaker Renault has enjoyed the success of its affordable seven-seater MPV Triber in India for a long time. However, the model has been long due for a significant upgrade. Thankfully, the company has noted this need and has now been working on the development of the Triber’s facelift. Recently, a video showing the test mule of the Triber facelift has been shared online.

This video of the Renault Triber test mule being tested on public roads has been shared on YouTube by Shankar on their channel. In this short video, we can note that a Renault Triber test mule was being tested on the busy roads of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It can be seen that this test mule was fully covered in black camouflage, hiding most of the details.

Exterior design

In terms of the changes, we can observe that the main highlight of the Renault Triber facelift will be the updated front fascia. It will come equipped with a brand-new front grille, which was not clearly visible as it was hidden by the camouflage. However, what was visible were the new LED headlights. The shape is the same as before, but the internals have been updated.

It now gets LED DRLs on the top, and the inside has been blacked out as well. Apart from it, the front bumper has been completely revamped as well. It now gets a new silver surround, which extends till the lower part of the bumper. The lower grille pattern has also changed, and there are new fog lights on both ends of the front bumper.

Moving on to the side profile, we can note that the overall silhouette of this MPV is the exact same. It gets integrated roof rails and a set of new wheel covers. Most likely, the higher-spec variants will be offered with a set of updated 15-inch alloy wheels as well. Apart from these changes, not much will be changed on the sides.

The test mule was then seen from the rear after it overtook the car from which this video was recorded. It can be seen that the rear of the Triber facelift has not been changed a lot. Most likely, it will be getting a new bumper and a set of new rear taillights. The exact design of the taillights was not visible as it was hidden by the camouflage.

Interior updates

This particular test mule's interior was not captured in the video. However, it is believed that the company will be updating the dashboard layout of the new Triber, making it more modern. It is expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment system, new air conditioning system controls, and a few other updates. We can also expect a new color theme for the interior of the upcoming Triber facelift.

Powertrain

Renault is expected to retain the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine which it currently offers with the Triber. This engine generates 72 bhp and 96 Nm of peak torque. This motor is offered with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option.

There are reports which have mentioned that Renault India could be offering the new Triber facelift with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, as in the Kiger. It will most likely produce around 98 bhp and 160 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual as well as a CVT gearbox. Pricing will most likely see a bump, and it is expected to make its debut in the coming few months.
