The country's second-largest carmaker, Tata Motors, is currently working on the development of the new facelifted iteration of its popular premium hatchback, the Altroz. Recently, a test mule of the Tata Altroz facelift was spotted testing in Pune, Maharashtra. What is being speculated is that it is the CNG version of the upcoming facelift model, and it is being tested by ARAI.

Tata Altroz Facelift CNG Spotted Testing

These images of the Tata Altroz facelift CNG have been shared on TeamBHP’s forum. From the images, we can note that this particular test mule of the Altroz was fully covered in camouflage. However, despite this, we can note that the front bumper of the vehicle looks different than the current model. The headlights also look similar but could get new internals.

Most likely, the front grille of this vehicle will also be changed to give the front fascia a refreshed appearance. Moving on to the side profile, the company has not changed anything, and it gets the same sporty silhouette which has made this vehicle very famous. Most likely, the higher variants will get a newly designed set of alloy wheels.

However, this particular test mule had the standard 16-inch silver steel wheels. Moving on to the rear, not much can be noted. However, it is also likely to get a new bumper and a set of updated LED taillights. The rest of the vehicle looks pretty much the same as the current model.

Interior

Moving on to the details of the interior, the Tata Altroz will get a slightly updated dashboard. It has been mentioned that the dashboard of this particular test mule was completely masked off. However, the person who saw it stated that the AC vent area of the mule had a gloss black finish. Also, this particular model was seen with the same two-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated glass steering wheel.

Powertrain

The standard Tata Motors Altroz facelift will get the same 1.2-litre NA petrol engine and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine as the standard Altroz, and a 1.2L turbo petrol engine of the Racer version will be retained. As for the CNG model, it will also most likely be getting the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which makes 77 bhp of power and 97 Nm of torque.

The Altroz iCNG gets a twin-cylinder technology that offers a rather large capacity of 60 liters. According to the company, each of the cylinders has a 30-liter capacity, and both are placed below the luggage area. This new technology helps to retrieve a lot of the luggage space that, in conventional CNG systems, is robbed by a single huge tank.

It also gets a single advanced ECU that ensures a seamless and jerk-free driving experience while shifting from petrol to CNG mode or vice versa. The Altroz iCNG also features the ability to directly start in the CNG mode. Additional safety features of the newest CNG product from Tata Motors include thermal incident protection, a gas leak detection feature, and a microswitch to ensure the car is switched off at the time of refuelling.
