Tata Altroz Facelift: New Video Brochure Now Out [Video]

The facelifted Altroz is the latest product from Tata Motors. Days after its India launch, the carmaker has now released the video brochure of the premium hatchback. Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20 are the primary rivals to the new Altroz, and Tata Motors seems to have packaged it well, to stay strong in the fight. The new video takes us through the finer details of the car.
The video starts by showing the design of the new Altroz. A man is seen walking towards a parked Altroz. Detailed visuals of the LED lighting setup follow. The headlamps, DRLs, and fog lamps on the new hatch are LED units. The design and placement of the Daytime Running Lamps are new as well. The grille now has a 3D design and looks more premium than before.
The video also shows the rear design. The facelift's rear looks fresh. It features a full-width light bar, LED tail lamps, redesigned Black panels and a new rear bumper. The car also gets flush-type door handles and new 16-inch 'drag-cut' alloy wheels.
Later in the video, we get to see a detailed tour of the facelift's cabin. Tata Motors has made major changes inside. The dashboard layout has evolved into something that looks more modern and usable. The carmaker calls this the ' Grand Prestigia' dashboard. The steering wheel now features a stylish two-spoke design and glossy Black finish. It even has an illuminated Tata logo on it.
While the previous model used to have a semi-digital instrument cluster, the facelift employs a 10.25-inch digital display for instrumentation duties. In addition to regular driver information, this can project maps and navigation as well.
The vehicle shown in this video brochure is an automatic. Tata Motors offers the choice of three transmissions on the new Altroz- the manual, DCA (Dual Clutch Automatic) and the newly introduced AMT. It comes with shift-by-wire technology (and paddle shifters of course!). At present, automatic transmissions are available only with the naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine. We have, however, learnt that the manufacturer will soon introduce the AMT on the CNG version as well.
Like its predecessor, the facelift is equipped with doors that open 90 degrees wide. Later in the video, we see the new 10.25-inch HD touchscreen by Harman. Equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, this comes paired with an 8-speaker premium audio system and Harman AudioworX. The screen also acts as the display for the car's 360-degree camera. This is a feature that was not available on the pre-facelift Altroz. The new model is also equipped with a Blind Spot Monitor, which uses feed from the side mirror-mounted cameras.
The AC controls are now integrated into a touch-based panel. The AC system has the 'Xpress Cool' feature as well. This is particularly useful in the Indian context. There are rear AC vents, to add to the comfort of rear occupants.
Other features include a wireless charger, an air purifier, a single-pane sunroof with voice operation, connected car tech, push-button start/stop, cruise control, auto-folding ORVMs and new ambient lighting. Some of these can be seen in the video.
There have been tasteful revisions in the exterior and interior colour palettes as well. The new car comes with just five exterior colour options- Dune Glow, Ember Glow, Royal Blue, Pure Grey and Pristine White. The first two, Tata says, form the backbone of the palette. The interior colourway has made a shift to a lighter and more pleasant 'Beige'. This instils a feeling of added roominess inside.
Available with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and a CNG dual-fuel powertrains, the new Altroz is priced from Rs 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 11.29 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec.
