2024 Tata Curvv Engine and Gearbox Combinations

Tata Motors will be offering the Curvv with six distinct engine-gearbox combinations. This will ensure that there is something for every kind of driver. This list includes two diesel options, two petrol options, and two electric vehicle (EV) variants.

1.5-litre Diesel Engine with 6-Speed Manual Transmission

Starting off with the diesel powerplant, the Tata Curvv will continue to offer the same 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine that we currently see in the Tata Nexon. This engine will come paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This motor will generate a maximum power of 115 PS and 260 Nm of torque.

1.5-litre Diesel Engine with 7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission

Next up, as a surprise to a lot of car buyers, Tata Motors will also be offering the Curvv with a 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). This combination is extremely rare in the diesel segment. Generally, with diesel engines, we see standard automatic transmissions or torque converters.

New 1.2-litre Turbo Petrol Engine with 6-Speed Manual Transmission

One of the main highlights of the Tata Curvv will be its all-new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with direct injection. This engine will generate 125 PS of power and 225 Nm of torque. The standard gearbox offered with this newly developed TGDI engine will be a 6-speed manual transmission. This will be best suited for drivers who mostly drive on highways.

New 1.2-litre Turbo Petrol Engine with 7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission

In addition to the manual option, the new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine will also come with a 7-speed DCT. This efficient engine and gearbox setup is designed to appeal to drivers who drive in congested urban areas. The DCT is also expected to enhance fuel efficiency and provide a smoother, more refined driving experience.

Tata Motors on August 7 will be launching the Curvv EV. The Curvv ICE’s launch will follow in the coming months. As for Curvv EV powertrains, it is expected to come with two different battery packs. The first will be the standard range EV, and the other will be a long-range model. At the moment, the standard range Curvv’s battery packs and estimated range have not been revealed.

Tata Curvv EV with Extended Range

Coming to the other model, Tata Motors, for people looking for longer journeys, will be offering an extended-range version of the Curvv EV. This variant is expected to provide over 500 km on a single charge. Reportedly, it will get a 55.5 kWh battery pack. Also, like its standard-range counterpart, the extended-range EV will feature a single-speed automatic drive.

No 1.5-litre Turbo Petrol Engine at Launch

There were speculations that Tata Motors would be offering the Curvv ICE with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (MPFI) at the time of its launch. However, it has now been reported that at least at the time of the launch, this engine will not be offered.
