The German automotive giant Volkswagen is gearing up for the launch of its newest flagship SUV, the Tiguan R Line, in India. This new model will be the sportier iteration of the newest generation of the Tiguan luxury SUV, which is currently on sale in international markets. Recently, the company revealed the details of the key components of the interior, including the infotainment system, heads-up display, and drive modes.

According to Volkswagen, the main highlight of the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line’s interior will be its floating touchscreen infotainment system. This screen measures 15 inches, and it is the largest screen in its segment. Its features include updated graphics and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will be running Volkswagen’s fourth-generation Modular Infotainment Toolkit (MIB4).

Apart from these, the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan R Line will come equipped with a 10.25-inch digital cockpit and a heads-up display. This display will provide the driver with speed and driver assistance system data. In addition, the flagship luxury SUV will also come with IDA voice recognition and a drive mode selector with multiple driving modes.

Other interior details

The overall cabin of the Tiguan R Line will be black, highlighting its sporty nature. It will also get a multifunction three-spoke steering wheel with audio and digital instrument gauge cluster controls. Other features of the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line include three-zone climate control, sports seats with lumbar support, and a massage function.

Volkswagen is also offering the Tiguan R Line with dual wireless phone chargers, 30-color ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. There are gloss black pixelated elements on the dashboard, and the same design is present on the door panels with ambient lighting, which looks very unique.

In terms of safety features, the SUV will come with 9 airbags, ADAS Level 2, ESC, electric parking brake, front and rear parking sensors, all-four-wheel disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, and hill descent control.

Exterior design

The Volkswagen Tiguan R Line on the outside looks very aggressive and bold, yet it still looks very classy. At the front, it gets sleek LED headlights and a massive front grille. The LED DRLs have a straight eyebrow design, and a chunky chrome bar spans across the entire front fascia from one end to the other.

On the side profile, it gets 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, thin black wheel cladding, and silver roof rails. As for the rear, the Tiguan R Line gets connected LED taillights, a shark-fin antenna, and a chrome-accented rear bumper.

Powertrain

Powering the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line is the 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which is capable of producing 204 PS of maximum power. As for the torque, it will make 320 Nm, and transmission duties will be handled by a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox. This SUV will also get Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

Pricing, launch, and competition

Volkswagen will officially be launching the Tiguan R Line on April 14. Currently, the company has already started taking reservations for this sporty SUV. As for the pricing, it will be around Rs 55 lakh. Once launched, the Tiguan R Line will take on rivals like the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Meridian, Citroen C5 Aircross, MG Majestor, and the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq.
