Citroen, the French automotive manufacturer, currently has five models on sale in India- the Basalt, C3, eC3, Aircross SUV and the C5 Aircross. On the sales front, things haven't, however, been too healthy. Even with the five-product portfolio, Citroen has mostly been registering three-digit monthly volumes recently. In July 2025, for example, just 494 units were sold. Citroen India has now announced a new strategy called the "Citroen 2.0 - Shift Into the New". This aims to overhaul the product lineup and, in the larger picture, grow the brand's market footprint in the country. The new strategy will have a heavy focus on uplifting the appeal and sales of the C3, Aircross and the Basalt. Less than a day after Citroen made the announcement, the first spy pictures of the updated Citroen Aircross SUV surfaced online.

2025 Aircross Spotted On Test

This spotting is from Chennai- the Aircross is manufactured at the Citroen plant in Thiruvallur, a place that shares borders with Tamil Nadu's capital city. These images show a White Aircross with minimal camouflage on its exterior. The logo has been covered with camo. This makes us suspect that the new Aircross could get the carmaker's updated Chevron logo. We can also see the projector headlamps, Black ORVMs, Black roof rails and 4-spoke dual-tone wheels.

The cabin, however, had most of its areas concealed. The new Aircross is thus likely to get major revisions inside, while staying close to the outgoing model with its exterior styling. The spy pictures shows the seats with a new Brown leatherette upholstery. The outgoing model has its upholstery finished in Beige. The new colour will provide better protection against soiling. Camo can also be seen on the steering wheel, covering the central logo.

Parts of the dashboard and door trims are concealed as well. These could get new colours and better finishes on the new Aircross. Soft touch plastics could also be used on the new SUV. Even though these will greatly elevate the cabin experience, it has become difficult to find them on affordable modern cars, today.

The feature list is also expected to be improved on the new model. A previous teaser released by Citroen showed cameras on ORVMs, suggesting that the new Aircross will likely come with a 360-degree camera.

It is also expected to get features like auto-dimming IRVM, auto headlights, auto wipers, ventilated seats, keyless go, push-button start, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and even a single-pane sunroof. If Citroen delivers on its promise, the updated Aircross will be designed and kitted to meet customer expectations (and preferences) in its segment.

No mechanical changes are expected on the updated Aircross SUV. It will retain the current model's 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 110 hp and 205 Nm of torque. Two transmission options are offered on the current model- 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. These are likely to be retained on the new SUV as well.

More About The Citroen 2.0 Strategy

The new strategy will roll out notable updates on the C3, Aircross and the Basalt. Citroen says that these will focus heavily on improving the design, in-cabin technology and comfort levels, in a way that would better suit Indian consumer demands.

The company also has plans to expand its retail and service networks in the country, and in turn, to provide better purchase experiences to its buyers. At present, it has around 80 retail touchpoints. These are expected to be doubled by the end of this year, emphasising on Tier II, III, and IV cities. The focus on localisation in production will also go up.
