Next-Generation Hyundai Venue Compact SUV Spied Testing In India [Video]

Hyundai Venue is a major volume driver for the manufacturer in India. The sub-compact SUV is about to get a major generational upgrade soon. The new model, internally codenamed QU2i, is currently undergoing tests in India as well. Previously, test mules were seen in Seol, South Korea, where Hyundai has its headquarters. Early in 2025, a couple of photos of the test mule had surfaced from India, hinting at the arrival of the update soon. The newest set of spy shots have been shared by the Instagram handle MRD vlogs.
The video shows a test mule of the new Venue parked near a fuel station. It will become the first model to roll out of the brand’s Talegaon manufacturing facility in Maharashtra and will thus mark the beginning of a new chapter for Hyundai in India. The carmaker has invested Rs. 6,000 crore in the facility.
Not much about the design changes can be understood from the video, as the car wears heavy camouflage. However, going by this and the previous sightings, it is safe to expect changes on the front fascia and at the rear. The proportions remain almost untouched and the new Venue could also stand under 4 meters in length. The overall design seems to make a transition to the carmaker's latest design direction which we see on the new Creta and Alcazar.
The front could get a split headlamp setup and a redesigned grille. The road presence is expected to see a leap upwards. The silhouette will likely remain unchanged. You can, however, see new aero-inspired alloy wheels that pack better aesthetics and efficiency.
The rear is expected to get a noticeable makeover as well. A new bumper, tailgate and revised LED tail lamps could make an appearance on the new model. There will be a full width LED light bar as well. The vehicle seen here, wears a Grey body colour.
Inside, Hyundai is known to introduce a fully refreshed cabin. Expect a new dashboard layout, redesigned centre console, and fresh, more premium upholstery. Better-quality materials are also likely to be used inside.
The new Venue will also come with major revisions to its equipment list. It will feature a level 2+ Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), as confirmed by the presence of radar on the front bumpers. It will have a larger touchscreen infotainment system ( the 'Trinity' triple-screen setup from the Syros could make a debut on the updated model), a fully digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof. The software interface is expected to be updated. The connected car suite could also be updated with more features and functions.
Mechanically, Hyundai is expected to carry forward its reliable engine options. These include the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, and the 1.5-litre diesel. The transmission choices will likely remain the same- a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
While the powertrains may not see drastic changes, Hyundai might fine-tune them for better fuel efficiency and improved emissions, keeping upcoming norms in mind.
The official debut of the new generation Venue is expected to happen late this year, with sales likely starting shortly after. Once launched, it will compete with other popular compact SUVs in the market, including the Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, and Tata Nexon.
The sub-compact SUV space witnesses fierce competition. To stay up in the game, the Venue will need some major reworks and upgrades with the generational update is expected to supply it with.
