Kia Carens made its India debut in 2022 and is now awaiting a facelift. The MPV contributes over 20% of Kia’s overall volumes and thus stands important. Over the past few months, we’ve come across multiple instances of spotting test mules in the public. Most of these revealed very few details of the upcoming vehicle. The latest spotting, however, chooses to differ. The test mule spotted by automotive enthusiast Rahul, near JNTU College Metro Station, Hyderabad confirms notable styling changes and more features on the upcoming Carens, including a panoramic sunroof.

2025 Kia Carens Facelift: What Should You Expect?

The new Carens will borrow styling cues and equipment from the recently launched Syros. The prototype here was heavily camouflaged. However, a few design details could be seen. The lighting setup is expected to get a major overhaul. The new Carens will come with LED headlamps that draw inspiration from newer Kia models like the EV5. Starmap LED elements with triangular shape headlights are expected on the facelift. The spy shots suggest that the DRLs extend downwards.

The side profile will likely have fewer changes in it. The vehicle could come with a new set of alloy wheels. These could look more rugged compared to those on the predecessor. The vehicle will likely get bold body cladding, side moulding on doors and Blacked-out A, B and C pillars.

The prototype had conventional door handles. It remains to be seen if the production version would have these replaced with flush-type units- which seems much of a possibility as the Syros that sits below it, has them.

The rear section is heavily camouflaged and not much can be understood about the design. It looks like the new Carens will have vertically aligned LED tail lamps, connected by a light bar. It could distantly resemble the ones on the outgoing Seltos. The design of the rear bumper is also expected to improve.

The spy shots also confirm the presence of front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and level 2 ADAS. You can see the camera unit for the ADAS system on the front windshield. The equipment list is expected to get a major revamp on the facelift. It could borrow a lot from the Syros, on the inside. The outgoing Carens offers front-ventilated seats. The new model could also feature ventilation for the second-row seats.

Like the Syros, the new Carens could also come with the 30-inch Trinity panoramic display. This cluster has a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, a 12-inch LCD instrument cluster and a 5-inch touchscreen for the AC and climate control functions.

In addition to ADAS, the safety suite will also consist of 6 airbags, vehicle stability management and electronic stability control, hill start assist control, rear parking sensors and camera, downhill brake control and tyre pressure monitoring system and more. All these are also offered on the outgoing model as well.

The Powertrains Will Remain The Same!

The outgoing Kia Carens offers three engine options- 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol, 1.5 turbocharged diesel and 1.5 turbocharged TGDI petrol. The NA petrol generates 115 PS and 144 Nm, while the turbocharged petrol produces 160 PS and 253 Nm. The diesel engine is known for its frugal nature and produces 116 PS and 250 Nm. The transmission choices include a 6-speed manual, 6iMT, 7DCT, and 6AT, varying across engines. These powertrains are expected to remain the same on the facelift as well.

Carens EV Coming Soon

Kia also has plans to launch an EV based on the Carens. Test mules of it have been spied several times. The vehicle will borrow its powertrains from the Creta EV, and will be available with two battery packs- 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The EV version will launch only after the facelifted petrol/diesel versions hit the market.
