The Mahindra Bolero, which completes 25 years in the market, is preparing for a facelift update. Camouflaged test mules have been spotted on the road, confirming that the model will continue with its familiar design while receiving updates for 2025.

Exterior Stays True To Bolero Formula

The heavily camouflaged mule suggests Mahindra wants to keep final changes under wraps until launch. The upright stance, boxy proportions, and rugged look remain. The front fascia still uses vertical grille slats with Mahindra’s Twin Peaks logo. Rectangular headlamps and a sturdy bumper continue, maintaining the Bolero’s functional design.

At the sides, the upright profile, flared arches, and 15-inch steel wheels with covers stay unchanged. The rear carries forward the tailgate-mounted spare wheel, compact taillamps, and a strong bumper. These elements highlight the Bolero’s workhorse positioning rather than a shift towards premium styling.

Cabin Updates Likely

While the spy shots do not reveal the interior, upgrades are expected. The current Bolero has one of the most basic cabins in Mahindra’s line-up. The facelift could bring a larger touchscreen, improved upholstery, and better ergonomics. These changes would align it with rising expectations even in rural and semi-urban markets.

Engine Options Under Review

The existing 1.5-litre mHawk diesel with 75 hp and 210 Nm is expected to continue. It has proven reliability and efficiency, and is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Another possibility is the more powerful version from the Bolero Neo, which makes 98.64 hp and 260 Nm. This would improve highway performance while keeping diesel efficiency.

The Bolero’s sub-4-metre length classification helps it retain excise duty benefits. GST reforms also favour vehicles under 4 metres, strengthening its cost advantage for price-sensitive buyers.

Refresh Without Losing Identity

The facelift is expected to introduce new colour choices and graphics while preserving the classic shape. Mahindra is focusing on evolution rather than dramatic redesign, recognising that the Bolero’s appeal lies in its continuity and ruggedness.

The update will coincide with the model’s silver jubilee. This creates scope for marketing the Bolero’s 25-year history of reliability and value. Despite newer rivals like the Bolero Neo, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Brezza, the traditional Bolero remains a niche choice for buyers who prioritise simplicity, durability, and low running costs.

Launching When?

Mahindra is expected to launch the facelifted Bolero in October 2025. The timing places it in the busy sales season, giving it a demand boost. Pricing will likely stay competitive, with minor increases to cover added features and regulatory compliance.

The Bolero continues to stand apart as a vehicle that balances SUV looks with genuine utility. It remains popular in passenger transport, cargo use, and agricultural applications. Mahindra’s strategy of controlled updates ensures that the model remains profitable while extending its product life cycle.
