Mahindra Thar has a cult-like following in India due to its road presence. However, there were a lot of things that Mahindra customers over the years highlighted that the SUV needed to become more practical. Recently, Mahindra gave the Thar three-door a much-needed facelift, and a video showing the most value-for-money variant of this SUV has been shared online.

Most value-for-money variant of the 2025 Thar

This in-depth, detailed walkaround of the Mahindra Thar LXT variant has been shared on YouTube by Fuel Injected on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger talking about this particular variant. He mentions that it is the LXT variant of the rear-wheel-drive version. The vlogger highlights that this is the most value-for-money variant.

Most people in India do not opt for the 4X4 variant of this SUV, as there are not many practical uses for everyday buyers. He then mentions the pricing of the new 2025 Thar. It now starts at Rs 9.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 16.99 lakh. This is the same pricing that was offered by the brand when the SUV was new.

Exterior design

Moving on, he then starts showing the exterior design of the newly updated Thar. At the front, he mentions that the SUV now comes with a body-colored grille, which earlier used to be finished in grey. Apart from this, the new 2025 model once again gets the middle portion of the bumper finished in silver. It still gets LED turn indicators and halogen-based circular headlights.

The vlogger then shows the side profile of this SUV, and it looks almost the same. It gets the same 18-inch alloy wheels as before and the same badging as well. Following this, the presenter moves to the rear and highlights the differences. He mentions that the SUV now gets a rear wiper, washer, and a reverse camera, which were not available in the previous model.

Interior upgrades

After giving a detailed walkaround of the exterior, the vlogger then shows the interior of this SUV. He mentions that the new 2025 Thar now comes with window controls mounted on the door pads. Also, the driver’s side now comes with a grab handle.

As for the main highlight, the SUV now comes equipped with the same 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system as the Thar ROXX. Other notable upgrades include rear AC vents, a Type-C charging port, and speakers on the roof. It also gets a wireless charging pad as well.

Powertrain options

Mahindra offers the Thar three-door with a number of powertrain options. The base RWD and 4X4 variants are both offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which makes 152 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque with the manual, and 320 Nm of torque with the automatic gearbox. Then there is a base diesel engine.

It is a 1.5-litre diesel engine that only comes with a manual gearbox and in the RWD layout. This motor is capable of producing 120 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Lastly, there is a more powerful diesel engine option, which is a 2.2-litre diesel engine that makes 132 PS and 300 Nm of torque.
