Mahindra Automotive is soon going to launch the Thar three-door in India. Just before the official launch, the company has started shipping this new updated SUV to dealerships across the country. Recently, a video showing all the new changes of the Mahindra Thar three-door has been shared online.
The video showing all the new changes of the Mahindra Thar three-door has been shared on YouTube by Paddle Shifted India on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that this is the rear-wheel-drive facelifted model of the new Thar, following which he starts showing the exterior design of this SUV.
On the front, the overall fascia has been kept the same. It still gets the same circular halogen headlights and the same turn indicators. The grille design is also the same, but it is now finished in gloss black. The front bumper’s design is also the same, but it now boasts a dual-tone color scheme of black and gunmetal grey.
As for the sides, it looks the same, and in the rear, it now gets a new black and gunmetal grey bumper and a new reverse camera mounted on the spare wheel. This is the same placement as the Thar ROXX, which is the Thar’s more practical five-door version. The rest of the exterior looks the same as the current model.
The interior of the new 2025 Thar is where the most changes have taken place. The SUV now gets new Thar ROXX-like door cards, and the window controls have been moved from the centre to the doors. There is also a new grab handle on the A-pillar. Coming to the main highlights, the biggest change is the new Thar ROXX/Scorpio-N/XUV700-style steering wheel.
There are infotainment system controls on the left side of the steering, and cruise control and MID controls on the right side. Another major update, which was highly requested by Thar buyers, was the infotainment system. The new model now gets the same 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the Thar ROXX. The overall dashboard layout has been changed slightly to accommodate this screen.
It now offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also a new wireless charging pad on the centre console. Apart from that, the SUV now comes with a centre armrest like the Thar ROXX. There are also USB Type-C fast-charging ports for the rear passengers, along with rear AC vents.
Rear washer and wiper are now standard across the range, and it also gets a button to open the fuel lid. Earlier, owners had to step out of the car with the key to open the fuel lid. Lastly, the automatic Thar three-door also gets a third dead pedal. Overall, the new Thar has more creature comfort features.
Powertrain options have been kept the same. It still gets the 2.0-litre mStallion 150 TGDi petrol, which makes 150 bhp and 300 Nm of torque (manual) and 320 Nm (automatic), offered with both 4X4 and RWD variants.
It also gets the 2.2-litre mHawk 130 CRDe diesel engine, which makes 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, offered only with 4X4. Lastly, the company also offers the 1.5-litre D117 CRDe engine, which is exclusive to RWD variants, making 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.
