The Mahindra Thar three-door is one of the most popular lifestyle off-roaders in India, and the current generation of it was launched back in October 2020. Ever since then, this model has not been given any major update or facelift. Now, before the new generation model arrives, the company, for the 2025 and 2026 model year, has given it a big update. Recently, the first units of the Thar three-door facelift started arriving at Mahindra dealerships, and a video showing this SUV has been shared online.

Mahindra Thar three-door facelift details

The video showing the Mahindra Thar three-door facelift has been shared on YouTube by Let's Throttle on their channel. It starts off with a clip showing the newly facelifted model getting unloaded from the transport trailer, following which the cameraman shows the front end of this SUV. It can be noted that the front grille was covered with a white cover.

Most likely, there have been changes made to the grille design, but the creator might not have been allowed to remove the cover and capture it on the video. Apart from this, the video then shows the cabin of this SUV. We can note that the facelifted Thar three-door now gets the same 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is offered with the Thar ROXX.

Many owners of the Thar have been complaining for years that the factory-fitted infotainment system of the Thar is very slow and unresponsive. Most likely, like the Thar ROXX, it will also come offered with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Apart from this, the SUV now also gets a wireless charging pad as well.

Mahindra has not changed anything else in the centre console of the Thar three-door facelift. It still gets the same buttons and manual air-conditioning system. The Thar ROXX, on the other hand, gets an automatic climate control system. Additionally, the three-door model also gets a central armrest like its five-door sibling. The company has given it similar door pads with soft-touch material as well.

In this short video, the vlogger also highlights that the steering wheel of the Thar facelift has been replaced with the same one as seen on the Mahindra Scorpio-N, XUV700, and Thar ROXX. Additionally, he engages the reverse gear to show the rear camera quality, after which he heads to the rear of the car and shows that the camera has been placed in the middle of the spare wheel like the Thar ROXX.

Powertrain changes

The company will most likely offer the exact same powertrain options with the Thar three-door facelift as it is just a mid-life update. Currently, the Thar three-door is offered with three engine options. The first is a 2.0-litre mStallion 150 TGDi petrol, which makes 150 bhp and 300 Nm of torque (manual) and 320 Nm (automatic), offered with both 4X4 and RWD variants.

Next is the 2.2-litre mHawk 130 CRDe diesel engine, which makes 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, offered with only 4X4. Lastly, the company also offers the 1.5-litre D117 CRDe engine, which is exclusive to RWD variants, making 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. This newly facelifted model will be officially launched just before the Diwali festivities begin to ensure that the sales of the three-door model also increase like the Thar ROXX.
