2025 Skoda Superb Diesel With 4X4 System Spotted In India

The Czech carmaker Skoda Auto’s Indian subsidiary stopped selling back in 2020. This particular decision was taken by the Volkswagen Group, which also owns Skoda. However, the company is now making a U-turn and will soon be launching the all-new 2025 Skoda Superb diesel in India. Also, what will be more special about this luxury sedan is that it will come equipped with a 4X4 system. Yes, you heard that right.

Recently, a video showing the first 2025 Skoda Superb out in the public has been shared on Instagram by Autojournal India. In this short clip, the upcoming Superb can be seen completely undisguised. The video first shows the newly designed front end of this sedan, and then it shows the rear end of the vehicle. It can be noted that the cameraman first zooms in on the Superb badge on the left side of the trunk lid.

Following this, he then pans the camera towards the right end of the trunk lid and shows the 4X4. This is the same badge that we all are habitual of seeing on the Kodiaq luxury SUV from the brand. However, this time around, the company will be offering the Skoda Superb with a 4X4 system. It has to be noted that this particular system is not being offered to do serious off-roading like mountain crawling.

Rather, it has been given to help the vehicle manage the torque in a more efficient manner. Also, as the new generation of the Skoda Superb will be imported from Europe as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), this system has not been removed. In European countries, it snows and rains a lot. So, in order for the vehicle to stay stable, the company offers 4X4 or AWD.

Not the first Skoda Superb to get 4X4

To many, the spotting of this new Superb with the 4X4 system may seem a little surprising. However, it has to be noted that this is not the first time that Skoda is offering the Superb in India with a 4X4 system. Back in 2001 till 2008, when the first generation of the Superb was launched in India, it came with a 2.8-litre V6 petrol engine. This model at the time also featured a Haldex-based all-wheel-drive system.

In addition to this, the company also offered the second generation Superb, which was sold from 2009–2014 in India. It was also offered with a 3.6-litre FSI V6 petrol motor. The company provided this model with a 4X4 system as well. This was done to make this large sedan handle better while taking corners at high speeds.

2025 Skoda Superb diesel

This time around, it will be the first time in India that the Skoda Superb with a diesel motor will be getting an all-wheel-drive system. Volkswagen Group's first diesel engine, which will be offered on the new Superb, will be a 2.0-litre TDI motor capable of producing 187 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque.

In terms of design, the new Superb gets sleeker headlights and taillights. It also gets a brand-new interior with a much more modern design. The 2025 Superb’s feature list includes a 13-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch virtual cockpit, and three rotary dials in the middle of the console to operate the automatic climate control and seat ventilation.
